Japanese people have a hard time distinguishing between "R" and "L". So if you tell a person born in Japan to repeat "Rooster" back to you in most cases they'll say what sounds like "Looster" to us.

Also if you tell a Japanese person that you drive a "Cerica" they won't think you're pronouncing it wrong.

I think the reason for the mispronunciation is that asian cultures don't have an "l" sound in their language.
The closest thing phisically to that is, well.....the "r" sound. It's not because they're stupid or anything like that.


Take for example the movie Team America, World Police-

"Oohhhh, hey rook, its Hans Brix!" -Kim jong Ill, Dictator.
