Too Mold or Not Too Mold? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #37842 9 posts Started by JonCars17
I ordered a pair of Front TRD Extensions for my Celica. I'm thinking of having them molded on, but I donno if I should. I don't plan on having to do anything major to the car (engine etc). Plus I kindof like the molded look. Just want to know if anyone else thinks I should do this. The rest of my bodykit is molded on. So it may stick out abit much if it isn't, ya know.
I've heard stories of molded parts cracking the paint and looking crap at the join, but if your other parts are ok then yeah go for it mate.
i have my invader front molded, but alot of people said not to cause you cant get to ne thing and if it gets hit then your screwed. but i love the look of it so its really personal opinion
I had my invader front molded on aswell. I ended up hitting a curb and it cracked it (molding) and some of the bumper chipped. But with the Extensions unless it is lowered then I don't see a major problem.
if it is molded, then taking the front bumper off for whatever reason would not be an option.

yeah I doubt I have it molded on, more money and more time without my car frown.gif
I have molded bumper seams both front and back. I do absolutely love the looks of it, but as mentioned earlier it is impossible to take off your bumper.

One other comment is that it does crack. I had the cracks fixed about a year ago and now they are back again.

You have to decide what the look of a molded car is to you, can you afford a few bucks every year to fix the cracks and are you sure that you don't need your bumper off.

Thats my two cents.

Molded parts will eventually crack. Thats why i dont mold the raiser blocks with my spoiler.

JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!
Its kinda true...

I've had my experience with it. My front peice of my body kit right on the seems that go around the fender, not the front, are cracked on the seems. My kit however, was kinda half and half tho, because we bolted it on and then had it molded a lil bit to look like it fits better. But yeah... Because my front peice is on tight, when my car turns, it flexes and cracks the seem a lil bit...

But then again, I could be thinking of soemthing totally different... hope not, but I could just be BSing and not getting the actual point laugh.gif
