5s starts and doesn't idle high - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #37846 7 posts Started by Batman722
a friend has a GT and when it starts, the idle isn't as high as it should be, it just kinda bogs until it is warmed up.

I think it has to do with some elecrtical problems he's been having that makes me sad, I don't know.

the question is, what sensor could be the problem ?

thanks guys

maybe an injector problem?

should be cold starting to about 1500rpm dropping to about 800 when warmed up?

I'm guessing somethings a bit blocked, or its not choking correctly so will be down on power and would struggle for power til its warmed up?

Anyone else?
check the resistance in the engine coolant temp sensor(s). if they're out of spec then replace.

I agree. The sensor could be broken so the ECU thinks the car is up full temp all the time.

I will return one day.
IAC valve dustin, make sure its clean

i vote coolant temp sensor. the one thats right on the motor, not the radiator one . should have a green harness plug.

Wow!!
2 questions that don't need answers anymore, cool. i have a auto GT and it bogs down once in a while even when it's warm. idles at 400 rpm-- then dies, and kills the battery. needed to know the idle speed. is that 800 rpm for AT and MT? IAC valve and EGR problems give me a headache <-----------or is it because i just spent an hour researching this? anyway, off to bed!
