what I'm trying to do is to paint the inserts on my dashborad.

look out, im still trying to get the right one off. its got clips so you may have to find a way to get it out...
post some pics when your done....those two vents are definatly a pain...good luck bro!
well, I think it would be easier to get it done, if you ´d remove the glove box first...lie under the vent and you will see the clips!Try to lever it by using a screwdriver or something like that...perhaps you will need someone pulling it out while you are lying under the vent! ;-)
