Engine won't go at full throttle - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #37913 9 posts Started by 94silverst
Hey guys,

Well now that I'm done with the swap and it runs and everything, its time to fix the small bugs that are left in it. Couple of things... My engine doesn't have all the power that it should have when I'm in first gear. Its not just first gear, its mainly when I'm first accelerating. From about 0-15 or so MPH I can be at full throttle and have about 50 HP but then all of a suddden it kicks in and I get the power out of the engine that I should. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?? My only idea is the fuel pressure, but would that only be a problem at a low MPH? This is the only bug that I am totally confused about!! Please if anyone has any ideas post them up!!

Thanks everyone!!
dont call me estupid but im taking a wild guess.....

i think it can be the fuel injectors, are you using the stock 5s injectors?

remember just a guess!

Is this good enuff 4 ya? :D
have you checked and set your timing?

even if your timing is spot on, check that its advancing like it should and that the coil is good and within specs.

This could be it, I think the 4age has a 30 degree timing advance so that could be the problem! So I will try that, but if any of you 4agers have had this problem please please let me know!!

Thanks again! smile.gif
Make sure the VVT is connected properly, it is slow without it and it could also be AFM issues.
I don't know for sure, but it could be a fuel filter clogged. Change all the old stuff and do a tune up on the motor. You cannot just use old IGN. rotors, cap, spark plugs, ect.

How is your wiring? Check the ECU to make sure it isn't fried and make sure all the wiring is correct.

Note: silvertops are......slow untill redline. Not an ideal drag-strip car, or racing up hills.

hows it coming

yea your 3sgte is cool but ill stick to my 7agte

Ya, but this is really really slow at full throttel when starting. I connected direct power to the VVT (Black with Red strip) not the pink ribbed one so that should be fine! I think it might be a cam timing problem
