i am planning on buying this muffler, http://www.cardomain.com/item/MGF14832 , and i know that some of you guys have one on your cars. so i was wondering what difficulties you have ran into installing this universal muffler. also, what is the sound like. by the way, i have a completly stock exhaust currently.

ST or GT? i have a 7afe with a header and it sounds pretty good with just the center section and a 2" tailpipe (no rear muffler).

i have the Gt with 5s-fe engine. i like the little bit of a growl that the stock system has, i would just like to improve on it a little and free up a little horsepower. on that, has anyone noticed any power gains by adding a universal muffler in place of the stock one. also, i already have a short-ram intake.
well...a magnaflow or greddy muffler could do it, i beleive jgreening is selling a greddy knockoff, hes up by the north of the city of chicago.

I have a Magnaflow muffler with custom 2 1/4" cat back.. was pretty cheap to do at a local muffler place.. Sound is awesome but still a little quieter than what I was hoping for. But probably good since too much can be obnoxious or get you too noticed by cops..
I did have them put a resonator in to keep the raspy sound out.

how much did it cost to have the local muffler shop to do the piping? i was just planning on cutting off the old muffler and then adding some extra pipe before i put the new muffler on bc it is shorter than the stock muffler.

i had the stock cut then just an extender pipe and meinieke welded it to my muffler... cost just like 50 or so

They charged me 120 for the cat back, with resonator and installing my magnaflow muffler.

for you guys that used the universal muffler, what type of hangers, if any, did it come with. will i have to get one of those muffler straps in order to hang it? Also, tim86, how does your exhaust sound with the new universal muffler and what other add-ons do you have that would effect that? thanks a ton for all the help guys, my muffler is being shipped right now, i ordered it thurs.

The Magnaflow I got didn't come with any mounting hardware. The muffler shop just welded the brackets onto mine to hang where the stock one mounted.

i'll take a pic of how my is install sometime today, cause i have the same muffler
hope to see some pics, i'm anxious to see how someone else did it. i'm not overly excited about using that big iron rod, but it's all i could find in the shop so i just went with it. i think i'm going to hand paint it like silver or somp to make it a little less noticeable
who in the world did that install klm317..? that, is WAY too much bracing, and way too much tacking to your muffler...i would be so pissed if a shop did that to my muffler...
it looks good, but is ruined by that horrible bracing. completely rusted, and overly welded.
it makes me a sad panda.
