my almost stock (muffler) 96 st celica is always being put down to this trash talking kid who claims he eats all these cars in a stock zx2, gets me mad. so could i beat him?

Visit My Automotive & Tech Blog.
Don't know?
My fiance' has a 98 ZX2 sport w/no muffler and an intake.

I beat her in my 99 GT with CAI intake and exhaust.

I don't know, she can't really drive a stick that well.

Jared Harwell
ZX2 = Horsepower 130

He'd beat you by a narrow margin, or maybe he wouldn't...thats 25 more horsies there. Plus why is he driving a ZX2? Isn't that a chick car?
you also got to remember that the 130 hp on the zx2 is at the flywheel. thats probably a little over 100 to the ground.
Well it's more like 85HP in the Celica then...or somewhere around there.
Hey! My ST ran side by side with a stock GT. I was proud at that moment. I think I could have beat it if I was running a 5spd.

Oh and.. zx2's = 0wned.
DUDE not to be mean but you dont have a Chance in HECK im sorry man unless that person jsut really cant drive! jsut get a good start!

99 Toyota Tacoma
hmmmm jason maybe the guy in the gt was playin with you to make you feel good or something? and zx2s are girl cars but i dont know i think he would take you but you wouldnt get owned...... my .02

I think I have enough mods to make up for at least 20-30hp. It was a 5spd so possibly could have been new or not that great of a driver, but I was pushing it next to him. My next stage is getting that 7A-FE Turbo installed, then i'll 0wn GTs.. the ones that aren't turbo'd though >tongue.gif>
hmmm... didnt know about your mods homie and i like the honda quote....
Nick
hmmm.... id think the celica could win because im pretty sure the weight diff between them is greater than the power diff.

how bout a near stock ST 5spd and a 93 eclipse GE AT???

All stock NA Eclipses can be taken by Celica GTs.

They are extemely heavy, i'm very surprised that bridges don't have signs that say: "Trucks and Eclipses over 4 tons not allowed". When my ST was bone stock, I did lose to NA Eclipses, but I kept up pretty good, that just shows how sickingly heavy they are.
Ha,ha..it's kinda funny hearing you guys talking about the cars you race against...like the zx-2(nothing personal). I'm the only one of my friends that drives a 6th gen over here in Japan. The rest of my friends drive: 2 93' RX-7's, a 96' Supra, 91' 94, and 97' Skyline GTS-T's, and a 96' Nissan Silvia. I don't stand a chance running toe-to-toe....but when we go drifting in the mountains I tend to be able to hang on. And these guys taught ME how to drive.
hrmmm drift celica eh??? ::sniff sniff:: do i smell bull****?

A GT can own it, i'm not much for speed in my celi, its just a damn nice cruiser, but have beaten a few zx2's, on the otherhand my 93 supra twin turbo hardtop can just beat about anything on the road .. took 911 turbo easy otherday... only thing that can stand a chance is a corvette/viper.. speed just gets boring. Its much funner to cruise in a celi, its a car with lovely curves .. add on a veilside , c-1, or zephyr... SWEETNESS !!
I guess this race, no matter how pointless it may be, would come down to the track. In a simple drag race I'm sure it would be close depending on the driver, but on a track with a lot of turns, the Celica is sure to dominate with better handling. Not that it makes any difference. If you wanted to race, you should have bought a faster car. If you want a car that looks cool and is awesome to drive, stick with the Celica.
one of the funnest things tho, is to modify a peice of s#it car that can whip most anything on the road, i added a tri- turbo to a 89 volkwagon with roof sawed off and nos and pushing 800hp , which owned anything that looked its way, the thing was ugly as sin, but ur proud when ur hands engineered a vehicle that can kick the @ss of those prefabricated, even mod speed demons. So if y'all modify ur celi's to race , keep it real.
