Installation of injen intake - 6G Celicas Forums

I feel kind of stupid asking this actually. But when trying to install it, I notice one hole, and two nipple things. (for lack of a better word tongue.gif ) now, there is a rubber hose that obviously connects to one of them, and the other sensor plugs into the hole. but I don't know what the other nipple thing is for... the intake came with a 6"-ish long rubber hose that fits over the nipple but I don't know where the other end of that hose is supposed to connect to...

The hose that goes from the crank case to the intake tube is the most important. It preserves vaccum in that area. If you want to, you can get an oil catch reservor to go inbetween, and it will catch any water and such as it recirculates that air.

A link to what this actually looks like. In extreme turns such as autocrossing, these can actually be necessary, as cars like the 350Z have reported oil splash being sucked into the intake and run through the combustion cycle.

For practical purposes and the time being, run the hose from the crank case to the intake tube, and tie the other one somewhere out of the way to either be left there, or used when you pick up an oil catch tank.

do you have any pictures? is the hose from the crank case the one that comes from somewhere deep down and plugs onto the nipple thingy that's closer to the throttle body? if so, I've already got that one on...

Okay, here's the deal, I found a picture of the injen intake posted by another member of this board. I drew some red arrows pointing to the hose I'm talking about. I see it connects onto the engine... but my car already has a hose there that connects near the throttle body... what would I do with that hose then?

yeah it is, sorry, but can you tell me where the hose connects? I mean, I see where it connects now, but on my car there already is a hose right there that connects near the throttle body.

follow the picture! the bigger hose goes from valve to intake, take that hose already connecting and put the other end on the intake.
i think the intake in my ST has only the o2 sensor connected to it is that bad?!
oh snap. I see now. Mine only had 1 nipple on it.

Yeah. The one closer to the filter end of the intake should be attached to the crank case as pictured, and the one which goes way down towards the back of the block should be attached higher up, towards the TB end of the pipe.

And yeah, if you only have ur O2 sensor plugged in, I'd go ahead and attach the other hoses. A little vaccum is definitely not a bad thing.

theres another hose?
theres 2 nipples and a sensor hole on the injen

There is no O2 sensor on any intake, o2 sensors are on the exhaust. st cias only have 1 hole for the air intake temperature sensor. gt intakes have a line that runs to vac also.

yeah ya should. the reason theres a filter there is so that junk wont pulled into the intake manifold. having a hole kinda defeats the purpose wink.gif

yeah ya should. the reason theres a filter there is so that junk wont pulled into the intake manifold. having a hole kinda defeats the purpose wink.gif

exactly! so I plug the sensor into the hole, then I plug that rubber hose from one nipple to the crank case, and then the other hose that comes from inside somewhere connects to the other nipple... so the other hose that connects to the throttle body doesn't have anywhere else left to connect to on the intake...

dont mean to thread jack but anyone know what i can plug up the extra hole with
there should not be an extra hole! unless u drilled a new one for no reason

or...i got a civic intake and modified it lol. so there is an extra hole. how should i plug it up? you think it damaged anything? i figure there shouldnt be too much suction there

easiest way would be to wrap it in duct-tape... but that looks very unprofessional, lol. I suppose if you wanted it to look great you could take it to a welding shop and have them cut out a same-size circle and weld it in for you. could be costly though.

Ah. Knowing that it was a civic intake would have helped. So yeah.

If you've plugged in your intake temp sensor

and

If you've plugged in your crank case vac tube

and

If you've plugged in the other hose that goes off into neverland.

and you still have extra holes, then yes. You should plug them.

Weld, cork, do whatever, but yes, definitely plug them.
What is the part number for this? i bought an injen intake that i though was this one but it ended up being 6 inches long. if someone could help me out that would be great!

i dont understand... you are asking what the part number for the vacume tube is? if so there is no part number, just go to any car store and buy 6 inches of vac tube for like a dollar.
oooh if the vac tube they gave is too long then cut it and size it up
[b]if your talking about this nipple thing i didn't know what it goes to 2. but i just put a breather.

Sorry i should have been more specific, I was talking about the whole thing not just the vacume tube. LewFX answered my question though, thanks

ok, as you can see, I've got the tube on the intake now (taped off at the moment until someone can tell me where all these tubes go!) now, I know now where that tube is supposed to go, but as you can see, there is a tube already there that runs to the throttle body. so if I take that end of the tube off to put the tube from the intake there, then where does the other tube go?!?!?!
