ok so i'm planning on doing a 3sgte swap in about a year. right now i'm doing all kinds of research on it reading threads, stickies, looking for places that sell clips. but here's the problem it's getting overwhelming. i've been reading threads and stickies all weekend and the more i read the less sure of myself i get. so what i would like to ask is that yall who have more experience or have done this swap please if you could recommend what threads i should start off with. i think first off i should read what i would need as far as parts go (in generic parts). um...yeah and stuff of that nature. basically i am yours to mold i just want to know what to read and in what order. any help you have would be great. i can't continue to just go from the last thread and read all the 3sgte threads all the abbreviations are hard to keep up with and the formulas and cr@p. thanks in advance.

how far away are you from pittsburgh I can show you how I did it on my car if you ever want to come up. theres alot of sticky threads here... theres some on celicatech.com too. i plan to have someone else do the swap for me. the way i see it is i could probably do it myself but then if something goes wrong and the engine gets messed up i'm out more money tryin to fix what i messed up. if someone else does it and messes up the engine THEY'RE out the money fixing their mess up.

First off if your doing the swap yourself I say take out the Wiring diagrams and stare at it for the next month, because you will need to understand what it means. Then after that its as simple as finding a clip to save time, vaccum diagrams, a nice place to work on your car and lots of $$.

u can do ur own swap, but i strongly recomend getting someone professional doing the wiring.

if you choose not to do it yourself theres a ton of help in the area... but you really should be planning on doing it yourself and sending out the harness. all that hands on time is invaluable. not to mention how good it feels when the car is running!
yeah i've been thinking about it and i agree i think when i get ready to do it i'll just take my time and figure it out. i am however going to send out the wireing harness cause i don't even want to deal with that headache.

When I do a swap in my Celica.. my brothers just going to watch, eat and drink.. lol
Just remember to label everything, put the bolts in plastic baggies so you wont lose em. If you get frustrated take a break!. I had to.. I was putting back a 4AC and the parts wont seem to match.. I was about to hammer it to make it match..

Make sure you have a secondary form of transportation during the swap... Things like this will always take longer than you think, and you probably still have to get to work in the morning!
If you have faith in yourself that you could remove and re-install a motor, you can probably do the swap yourself if you have somebody else do the harness. Helping hands are always a good idea though.

oh yeah i paln on taking several months. i'm still aways away though so it's all good. the more i read the less worried i'm getting about doing it myself. i'm sure when the time comes i'll be on here ALOT asking all kinds of questions.
