I made a switch and I need a way to connect my redwire to a 12V power source.

1st Question - Which area inside the car should I tap into? Lighter Socket?

2nd Question - How exactly do I tap power from something? Ie- Parking lightsfor Fog, switch to lighter socket etc. What do I do?

To make an example, say a neon tube with switch set up.

The switch will have 3 wires, one will be grounded, another will be connected to the neon tube (while the other wire from the neon tube is grounded) and the other wire should be connected to a power source. Now how exactly do I do this?

Clip off the plastic covering of a positive wire (say for example - parking lights or lighter socket) and wrap the copper together and wrap it around with plastic covering?

Use a soldering iron to make a proper connection, then seal it of with some insulation.
If you just wrap the copper together, it may get loose because of the vibrations in the car

for the simplest and most reliable (second to soldering)
use a tap in connector, like these



on the cig lighter positive wire, you can use it on other positive wires but be careful because not every circuit is capable of providing a higher amount of current.

So I was right on the ball park with this right?

Take the two positive end, say parking light +end and whatever I'm trying to give juice to +end, (clip the parking lights' and splice it) expose the wiring, wrap it around together, solder it, put an insulation around it (basically the rubber insulation that you heat up and it wraps around the wires, then reconnect to the parking lights?

Like a Y of some sort?

Thanks btw, and um where can I get a tap connector? How does it work? Plug the positive power source in the middle and it can supply to other sources by connecting through it?
