I'm looking for a intercooler for my 3sgte swap anyone recommend anything? I have 700$
Intercooler - 6G Celicas Forums
pshh if you have 700$ on just an intercooler get a SPEARCO its the best one out there IMO and flows better then greddy!
i have a spearco ... seems to work well for me. it was only about 300 on ebay.
15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
my next intercooler. One sided to keep the intercooling pipes away from the hot side of the exhaust / manifold and should make for a better more efficientt route. bar and plate
Core Dimensions: 600mm X 300mm X 76mm
Overall length of 770mm
All TIG Welded 6061 Aluminum, polished end tanks
100% Vacuum Brazed Core
High Efficiency Bar & Plate Construction
2.5inch Inlet and Outlet
Max Recommended PSI: 45psi
Low pressure drop w/ only 0.2psi at 15psi of boost
Tested CFM: 1020 CFM
so the ebay auction says
i doubt one brands Bar and plate cools more than another brand so.
i mean how can you screw up sheets of folded aluminum.
under $200 for it also.
Heres a link.

why would you want a one sided one? its going to be tricky as hell to route the piping all to one side.
if you want to keep your piping cool from the exhaust manifold, just use some heat wrap.

didn't you ever read the thing on MR2oc about heat wrap...its bad from wat i gathered...
one sided is the way i'm going to go to john its a great idea and the pipes are actually really easy to run...

heat wrap isint good or bad. its all in how or where you use it.
i still dont understand the point of going to a one sided setup. if your looking for something clean and short, clock the trubo, then go from the turbo to the drivers side down, and from the throttle body to the passengers side. it would be a clean and simple setup.

yea, but, doing it that way, your really not shortening the piping at all.

you don't even need to relocate the battery just run the pipe up the fender in the same path as your stock intake
(i also plan for the 1 sided IC and piping run through the fender for reasons 1) cleanness of engine bay(including clocked turbo) and 2) side feed intake manifold)

consider getting water-air IC, beefy pump, monster heat exhanger and 3-4 gallon tank. Less piping than any FMIC and possibly better efficiency... heat shield it if necessary, mix up your water wetter and your good to go

You can ask for the GReddy Spec-M Intercooler (New 2-Layer Intercooler by Greddy). You can buy the Kit for the Nissan S15 which is the cheaper (beacuse its including just few pipes in the kit) and go for custom piping using that core.Average price for that kit i think its around 50,000Yen.

looks like its gunna fit..

i await the post where someone rearends you and pushes you into the car infront of you at 5mph and you total your celica
thats not too mature.... im glad you have yours on but i really could careless about mine. i often check my rearview when ever i see a car pull up to me and i dont tailgate so i should be good.

relax i was kidding, im just saying that i probably wouldnt compromise the safety of my car for a cleaner engine bay. but good luck with the one sided piping and post updates of your route.
...as for a cleaner setup from a w2a i don't think so personally...a big box on top of my vavle cover just doesn't seam clean...having to unhook all that bull**** just to pull a spark plug...kinda ghey..fmic>w2a in looks and aggressive styling
but itch that thing is hot...although personally i would have gone with a shorter core that thing is freakin huge
looks like the piping should setup rather nicely and work great...lookin forward to see some piping pics

you have 700 dollars for an intercooler.... In reality depending on where you take your car to get the ic done at... well it all depends.... if I were you I would just get a front mou nt intercooler....
the DSM intercooler thats pictured below I always wanted to try because of the way our turbos point it would make it alot easier.
It might be worth trying. But anyhow after you buy an intercooler for around 125-200 you have pipping + couplers.. do not buy the ebay crap... then a bov/bypass valve... depending on where you take it to get the pipes done you should be around 500 dollars....

For intercooler pipe, piping is piping. I told Jon to buy an ebay DIY polished aluminum intercooler kit for $100. Make cuts with a band saw and bead roll the ends. This is easy stuff. Buy t-bolt clamps and be done with it. it will look great and will never have any slippage and/or boost leaks. It's just piping for WARM air to pass through.
