Hey I finally got around to installing my indiglo gauges. I read the description, pretty straight-forward. I just got stuck at the wiring part. The red and black power wires from the indiglo gauges should be connected to the green white and black white wires on the dimmer socket switch right? I did this and none of my gauges lighted up, course i didnt sauder the connection so it couldve been lose. Just wanna see if im doing it right.
Also I got this weird looking ribben with colored dotted pad at the end connected to the same black box that the red and black wires are connected to. Anyone know what i do with this?
i dont think ur supposed to connect it to the dimmer socket because it needs a straight current. I connected it to the interior fuse box labeled for the existing gauges, that way it turned on only when the rest of the panel lights turned on. Also the ribbon with the dots...that the control for the gauges. the blue is to make the indiglo blue, the green is to make it green, and the other two are to dim them or make them brighter. I think the black box is a transformer for the indiglo guages, it should be making some buzzing when its connected, lol.
Your guage wont light up period if you don't have it hooked up to the dimmer...nor will any of the other instrument lights.

That is true for your stock guages, but not for Indiglos. You can hook up indiglo guages to any twelve volt source and they will work fine.

Yeah you did it right. I cut the stock wires and spliced the gauge wires and the stock wires back together cause I had them jerry riged in there. Now its all good. I also did a write up on the instilation of these.

Yeah, I went through the same BS "green wire" routine when I hooked mine up and all my gauges did was laugh at me. Iwent ahead and ran the power through my gauge display fuse and then grounded the G wire to my accelerator pedal. Rigged but workin!!
i had the same f'ing problem! i tried wiring directly to the bat, but then the damn things wont ever turn off even when the ignition is off!! i ran into another problem in when i tried to splice the indgilo wires into the green/white and black wires for the stock harness something screwed up and now the gauges wont work at all, its a big mess that will hopefully be sorted out tommorrow, but alas you are not alone in your gauge troubles.
If you read my description of the Halo Gauges & Indiglow Needles it describes how i hooked up the wires and i've had no problems. If i remember the wires correctly (too lazy to look at post) the blue connector has a white w/green dots and a solid green wire on the far left of the connector. I installed the possitive to the solid green and the negative to the white w/green dots. I just pulled off enough covering on the wires so i could stick the wire into the connector and they light right up. You can even use your existing dimmer switch to control the brightness of the gauges since the 2 wires you use are the positive and negative for the 194 bulbs that light up the gauges.
Hope this all makes sense and helps ya out.
there are a lot of replies here and forkee is the most right. The best way, in my opinion, is to ground it to your cd player and put the power wire into the spot for the fuse that controls the guage cluster and then put the fuse back in. No need to solder and any tape. The only problem that I had was getting them around the round piece at the end of the needles. That was a bit*h.
Forkee is right. If you hook the wires up to your dimmer switch your contol module box may eventually short out. Hook them into your Head light wires. That way, when the car is off and you turn on the lights they will work.
Someone should do a write up on this, since everyone is having problems...pictures would be cool too.

Hey I did a write up about this a while ago. I need to put some pics in there but since I don't have a digital camera that I can get to easily. If you read it, it does the job on explaning how to do it. When I did mine I had no idea how to do it when I put mine in.
