We need to make something like this. That might be as good if not better than a CAI.

are you kidding me?? tell me you just didn't say that.....a short ram is a short ram, that thing dont even have a heat shield or anything how can it be better than a cai? its more or likely wrapped in cf and not even worth it for the cost + shipping

no, that looks like real CF to me, its bloody impossible to get metal tube to make those shapes for cheap. its WAY easier to do with fiber/resin.

heatsheilds and wrapping them dont do squat really, the pipe will get warm no matter what, but the amount of time the air spends in the pipe it wont really absorb any noticable amount of heat. a CAI can lower "throttle response" since theres a longer path for the air to follow, but honestly an intake is an intake. that honda one does look nice tho, it has a chamber in it like motor cycle and 2 stroke intakes. it keeps a large volume of air onhand for that snap to wide open throttle which is good, it helps elminate the tendency of some motors to get a little bogged when the throttle snaps to WOT.

^^Exactly. I use to think that a Ram Air intake was just about pointless, but with my research in allmotor performance, I don't think that anymore. There are a lot of Honda guys using that type of intake and swear by it. I've been told up to +7hp on the B-series motors. If that's right, that it huge for a intake. When you are talking allmotor power, throttle response is generally pretty important. I think I'll keep my CAI for now, untill I can afford a nicer one. If you popped the back of the hood, or made a vent, you could almost get as much cold air flow through there as a regular CAI like I have in the fender. Oh yeah, I had the intake mounted dirrectly on the throttle body in my last car, and I found that to give the best performance. So, there has to be something to it being shorter.

i dont think it would make much difference in air temps unless you made a box around the filter and sucked from outside the engine bay.

my stock airbox minus the snorkel works great and sounds nice, not too loud but it provided an improvement over stock.

^^heat shield, heat box, at least its better than nothing, i would've went with a cai, but where i live and my ride is daily driven, it wasn't worth it, so i went with a sri with a heat shield, but if i had to choose, cai all the way do0d!

back to the cf intake, for the amount of money i'd rather buy a name brand like injen, at least it comes with the injen sticker wink.gif imo its not worth it UNLESS it was a show car and you entered in the category "most cf" or something like that
