Alright, any advice on how to remove the black plastic cover above the needle. How to safetly remove it?

Where should I tap my power from? Is there another good place to tap power from

What color is the parking light fuse?

i did this, im not sure what cover u talkin about, the ones i installed slipped over the old ones, and its a tricky deal.
fuse wise, i cant explain ATM which one u need to run through, tommorow i will have a look.
u need to get your power from that fuse, best way right now is take volt meter, turn your head lights on, and unplug (i think its the top left fuse) whichever one has a full 12 volts, but the tricky part is u want the power to go thru the fuse, so put the power wire in the 1 hole out of the 2 holes from the fuse that dosent have the power....

ha...ill check tommorow and give u a better how to.

This is what I'm trying to figure out. In the how to it states "Before you can slide the gauges over the needles, you'll need to pop off the little black plastic covers that are on top of the needle. This involves prying the covers up with a screwdriver very carefully, because you don't want your needles to come off."

How do I do that safetly? Or atleast what did you do to slip the gauges carefully? Any technique? Safe way?

And yes please, I'll definitely need that how to. Cause at first my plan was to get a tap connector and just splice something for power.


BTW - I was wondering, if I tap power from the cig light, is there a limit as to how much I can tap into it? For example (just an example) Say I have three different "items" in need of power. Each item has a switch on its own. I use a Tap connector and splice the the cig light Red wire and supply power to all 3 switches which then controls the three item. is this possible or a little too much? Would splicing it into two be possible/safe?

i simply placed it over my orginals...it was too hard to pluck it out...and there was a needle in the middle of the speed that could've have broke...i just plucked out the needles and place the face over the black guages...pluck the needles back carefully as they were and bam...looks good as new...it took a while to align the lighting and images together...such as oil..check engine light...seatbelt, etc...

make sure you do NOT remove the needles. you also dont need to remove the black plastic covers. some people do, but it can be done without it .

yeah... you sort of move the needles up to the half way point and slip the gauges over them . its pretty easy . youll know what i mean once you start doing it

also .. you migt want to glue them down because they tend to rub and make the needles stick. once you glue them tho, your original faces will be ****ed up, so you have to stick with glow gauges forever.


Think double side tape wont work well?



some people have had luck with it... you just have to make sure you buy the clear thin, see through stuff. it didnt work too well for me

ill give you a super tip:
when u glue or tape them, here is a good way to test if the needles with rub or not. lay the cluster on a table, and blow on the needles with your mouth. the air should be enough to move the neeles smoothly all the way up and down. if they stick anywhere, then you know they are not right.

if you do the same test by hand, youll sometimes think its fine, and then have them rub on you when you install them.

its cool man. i just wish we kept talking about this on the forum, so that others might benefit... but anyway....

you can tap into the wiring that goes to your dimmer knob.

or ... go to a local parts store, and buy a fuse box tap. its like a 2 prong plastic thing that goes inplace of your headlight fuse. then it will have a place for 2 fuses, one for your original headlights and one for the new circut. it also has a wire connected to it, so that you crimp that to your glow gauges power line, and then just ground the other one. makes for a clean instal, and you dont have to hack and splice into the cars factory wiring.

dont remove the needles as it will make your life harder. The holes in the center of the indiglo gauges should be big enough that you could slide the needle through them and get the IG Gauge to slide over the black circle that the needle is connected to. (hope that made sense) The needles are pretty flexible so you could bend them upwards without hurting them (not too much now). As for the power sournce? i found a bolt near the pedals that was connected the metal for the ground. And got my power from the green wire in the dimmer, ^as circled above in the picture. good luck!

Edit: I used solder&Electric tape to splice the wires, i would suggest it so they dont come apart and you gotta do it over again

what do you mean by flexible? you can actually bend the needle? or do u mean moving it up like 10 mph and putting it back down.

oh and your gona want to hit the right wire in the dimmer, one of those wires is a fluctuating 12v, and ur glo guagues wont work with fluctuating 12v. you need to hit the wire that turns ur testlight on when u turn ur headlights on.

You can move the needle I believe like from 5 mpb -> 30 mph, I think its safe. Pulling it up might cause it to break though. I'll just use a mini tap connector I got from radioshack. Make things easier than soldering etc.

I'll do it later ones it stops raining, X_X pouring like crazy here in Brooklyn. I'll post pics of it later at night.

slip them over, u have to manuvere the circle a little bit under the needel and pull the rest over....mess with it...

i havent heard much good with attempting to remove needles.

I got them installed but I figured, it was too good to be true that it didnt have any problems. Well anyway it did

I did not take off the neeldes at all. I was toough but I was able to put it in there. Everything seems to be working well, except for two things.

1 - Which I'm worried about. My speedo seems to be delayed or something. For example. I brake on a stop light. As soon as it turns green, I accelerate and it just stays 0. Then when I hit like 20 mph it just jumps. So I thought, damn it's stuck. But then whats weird is that, as I was driving I stop just for like a moment as it reached 0 mph I accelerated again and it just went back up like its normal. Anyway I could fix this? Also what's bothering me is that, if its really delayed int he beginning, does that mean my speed is off? Like in the highway I'm hitting 70 mph, am I really hitting 70 mph?

2 - uhhhhhm the gauges aint working -_- I dont know where I went wrong. I'll probably try again tomorrow and see whats up. I used a tap connector and split the solid green wire in the dimmer switch. And of course I thought since thje gauge didnt light up, it would be the dimmer's fault, it wasnt. The dimmer was workign perfectly. Everything seems to work except the gauge. maybe I think it might be the grounding? I just wrapped it around an area near the long tube like behind it. Metallic ofcourse. I'm 100% sure that + side is tapped correctly. Is the white-black wire in the dimmer the ground?

Anyway I'd appreciate any advice on any of the two.

i think ur needles are getting stuck

damn after reading all of this i think im just gona get some blue led's cause glo guagues are too much work even tho they look good at night.
