Spark plug wires? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #39238 9 posts Started by 6strngs
I understand that these wires are just a stock replacement (except they're blue!) But then there is these wires. What are the benefits, if any, of having the 7mm wires be over having the 5mm?

thicker wires can let the electricity flow with less resistance, and can result in stronger spark, which then leads to possibly burning the air/fuel mixture better. This can give you a slight increase in performance and fuel efficiency, however, i dont think you will be able to notice a difference in just spark plug wires.

well, I'd be getting NGK iridium IX's at the same time. So do you think the thicker wires would help if I did both plugs and wires? or are they really only going to benefit me if I have a performance ignition and all that?

i wouldnt think so, i asked about the exact same thing awhile ago dude, i think its just trying to get more money, cause i mean you can get iridium spark plugs for 13 a pop at advanced auto, and the wires, i'd just stick with toyota.

booo to nopi! pep boys has em for 6-8 bux each too
I've heard those little stock wires are good enough to hold the spark for 400hp. I don't know how people know that, but there are serveral with that idea. I have those NGKs, and they are pretty nice. I haven't had a problem with them yet. They are a nice length and helped clean up my engine bay a bit.
