im trying to pickout a turbo for my 7afe and i found a couple choices that might work. im wondering which of the following 2 turbos would give me the most for my money and reliability

T3/T4 T04E turbo
around 200$
# 100% Brand New. Never been Tried or Installed.
# 3" inlet Diamenter /2"Outlet
# 0.58 5 Bolt Standard Hotside
# 0.63 A/R Cold
# 0.57 Cimpressor wheel trim
# 0.60 A/R Compressor
# 0.63 A/R Turbine
# 57 Trim
# Turbine Wheel: Exducer 2.48" / Mayor :2.89"
# Compressor Wheel : exducer :2.07" / Mayor 2.36"
# 25-35 PSI PEAK POWER PERFORMANCE OUTPUT CAPABILITY

Garret T3 super 60
400$
Turbine: .63 a/r, stage III wheel
Compressor: .60 a/r, "super 60" trim compressor
Oil cooled and lubricated, with a 360 degree thrust bearing!
2.5" compressor inlet, 2" compressor outlet
Standard Garrett T3 5 bolt turbine discharge pattern (the one that is most common).

From what ive read the super 60 is pretty much the best for a 7afe but yet its more expensive
im also wondering what kind of power I can push with these

youd be much better served with the super 60

the super 60 is a good turbo for reliablity but i could not push mine past 12 psi and i did not have any boost untill i hit around 2800-3000 rpm my max boost was at 6300-6500 rpm, it was great on that it did not push the motor hard or wax out my injectors, now the t3-t4 i have upgraded to i have pushed 17psi but that maxed out my 370 injectors and i felt like i was pushing the motor to its limits for stock insides, but i get boost at 2200-2400rpm, anb full boost is at 5700-6000rpm , so i hope this helps ,it all depends on when you want boost and how hard you want to push your motor, if you want something fun to drive and just want to hear a turbo spool up and speed is no big deal i say stay with the super 60 it works very well and reliable on the 7afe if you want a drag car and alot of boost the t3-t4 will make you very happy wink.gif
so i can run the super 60 with stock internals

or i can get the other one and run it with a built motor?

hmm not sure

the 200 less i spend on the t3/t4 is almost worth it if i have to rebuild
plus the t3/t4 comes in a kit with IC piping, wastegate, BOV, and B-series manifold---yes the kit is for a b16/18
the whole kit is only like 850$

after im done i wanna be running in the 14s

so basically which one would work for that?

Hey, if you're looking for a good turbo for your ST, I have a freshly rebuilt T3 60 that I can hook you up with, water cooled, including wastegate housing and internal wastegate. Email me if you want it at drtweak@phoenixtuning.com

I have a bunch of other good turbo parts too.

both will get you around the low 15s-high 14s if you want more than that i would say run the t3-t4 and build the motor ,the cost will raise a little when it comes to the t3-t4. my t3 60 trim kit was fast to put in and very cost worthy i think it only ran around 2300$ and i ran stock internals with 10psi ,now with the t3-t4 i am pushing 14psi and the heads are port&polished and a water cooler to keep detonation down. good luck with the build and keep us posted
