Ok, where to start....First off I recently replaced both cv shafts to cure the loud clicking sound I got when I turn and shift. I didn't have any problems for a while, but then I started hearing this *clunk* when I leave off the gas in 2nd or 3rd. It sounded like it was comeing form the left front, so I came to the conclusion that the new cv shaft may have been defective. I returned my shaft for another one and I just put that one in two days ago. While I was installing that one, I noticed that cv shaft didn't look right when I fit it into the hub. I took it out for a spin and guess what.....now my abs kicks in everytime I stop.....and I still hear that retarded *clunk* when I leave off the gas. I read in an older thread that it may be the motor mounts that are causing the clunking noise. If so, how much hell am I looking at for replacing those? As far as my brakes go, I pulled the ABS relay to temporarly (sp?) fix that, but thats not a real solution to the problem. I know I'll have to proably switch out that shaft for one that fits properly, but I don't wanna deal with the same people or the same part again. Does anybody know where to find a decent cv shaft that will work. I would prefer a non-reman.

did the new shaft have the ABS ring? is the new shaft pushed in all the way? if it didnt snap into place then thats your problem. it can be difficult on the passenger side since its longer.

Yes, it did have the ring on it. I also heard the shaft "click" into place inside of the tranny, and I made double sure that the new shaft also was as far in the hub as it would go. Lasty, I'm working on the drivers side. The passenger was easier than I thought, but it helps when you have an extra set of hands around. What brand of shafts do you have in yours? I think mine was manufactured wrong because that ring is just like an 1/8th of an inch away from where it is on the OEM shaft. If anybody has a slightly used OEM drivers side shaft (less than 60,000 miles on it) that they wanna get rid of, pm me.

i just got whatever autozone had, it may have been their duralast brand. they were remans and fit just like stock, ive had no problems with them. i only replaced my axles because the innber boots had lost all their grease, when i pulled back the inner boots i found grit and water in with the remaining grease.

welcome to rebulid axel hell . i went through this in the past. the quality control of some of these rebuild shops is horrible. i would recomend returing it again and going to another store.

whats the name of the company that did the rebuild?
