so apparently i have a short somwhere because if i leave my car sit for more than like 2 days the battery dies.
what are my options here? i usually focus more on the mechanics of a car so when electrical things go wrong im just stupified.
thanks guys.
this is the quickest method i can think of
take out your multimeter and set it up to mesure current
make sure it's not your battery thats faulty by disconnectin the positive and mesuring for current draw
if you do detect quite a bit of current then you know it's not your battery. note that there will be a small current draw for things like the ECU memory, clock, radio, etc...
after that you have to find out which circuit is drawing current
check all aftermarket devices for malfunction
then take out a fuse and test the two terminals for current draw, put the fuse back and go to the next
(when you do this make sure nothing is on and that you have the door switch pressed in so that the door light circuit isn't on)
note all your data on a piece of paper for diagnostic reference
get back to us with your findings, good luck
