FS:Solara trans with ATS diff and axles - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #39521 20 posts Started by rm2932
I have a Solara Trans I got from a junk yard which goes for about $500 with 55,000 miles in then I installed a ATS metal LSD that sells for $1300. I also have both axle shafts which I bought all Brand new parts from Toyota and assemblied them. That cost me about $1000 in parts to do. This setup will fit in Celicas 90-99.

I am asking $1500

Anyone interested
this auto or manual?

It was a 99 Solara V6 manual transmission. Not sure on your question.
Let me state the diff and axles have about 1,000 miles on them. My project changed which is why I am selling this. I am taking my engine setup and puting it into a 1990 Alltrac.

Here are photos of the axles:

If you want pics of the trans alone I can get them for you in a day or two. It is in storage right now. Let me know.

lol woops, would u know what engine would be feasible for that tranny? I have a bit of a situation. My tranny is going out and I need a real good up to date tranny. I have a 5sfe right now. Soon to be turbo once i get everything set. Right now i have a ct26 and nothing else. Will that tranny work for me till i get it turbo?

This tranny is solid. Here is a link to the horsepower registry. horsepower

If you look about 10 down from the top is me. (RM2932)
That is the power I was puting down through this tranny and it is still perfect. I had too much power thou which is why I am puting that engine in an Alltrac. FWD could not handle that much power. It was pretty stupid. This tranny with an engine dynoing 350-400 whp would be a blast. After that the wheel spin gets out of control.
did u get my pm?

What mods if any would I need to do to put it in a GT (5sfe)?

it cannot work with a 5SFE. The pressure plate on the 5SFE is too small for the clutch disk that fits this transmission.

oh... thanks. Is there anyway to make it work together? Or is it only for the ST's?

the only way i can think of is to get a custom clutch disk that is the correct diameter for the pressure plate and the right outter splines so that it'll slide on the transmission input shaft.

it's not for ST's (7AFE), it's for gt-fours/alltrac's (3SGTE)

but isnt it a e153 tranny same as a mr2? cause i was told that a mr2 e153 will work on a 5sfe. just need a custom pressure plate which u can get from act.

yep, it's the same as the mr2 only the gear selector is located on the opposite side. If you can get the custom pressure plate, yes it will work. The block bolt pattern is the same. However I don't see the benifit of having a E153 on a 5SFE unless you plan on turboing it, even at that the stock GT tranny is sufficient for that application. Unless you're willing to sacrifice performance to have this LSD, which would be pointless to have on a 135HP 5SFE. just my oppinion.

We should really be keeping this thread a "for sale" thread tho, my appologies to rm2932 for cluttering his thread.

its good information. but yea ur right about keeping the stock gt tranny even if ur gonna turbo ur 5sfe. smart thinking.

[size=4]Hey my name is Axel. I just lost my tranny at the track wed. I have the 3sgte swap with the reg. GT tranny.. I was wondering if you still had the tranny and if that's the best that you would take for it, and if it would sit right in my car. Please get back to me as soon as you can because I'm looking to buy soon..
Just to clear up any confusion of potential buyers, this would work with a 5SFE no problems.

The pressure plate issues are easily solved by using a full 3SGTE or 1MZFE clutch set (pressure plate and clutch disk) by way of a 3SGTE flywheel which will bolt to the 8-bolt crank of the 5SFE. Use the full setup and the splines will agree with the transmission, and the flywheel will allow use of the proper pressure plate for the disk.

GT owners will still need to aquire the proper engine mounts for the drivers side and rear, and ST205 shift cables if you don't feel like customizing the shifter bracket.

Good luck with the sale rm2932, and with the All-Trac. smile.gif

EDIT- Didn't realize how old this thread was. Whoops.
