Theft Proof Celi... - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #39639 51 posts Started by Diab1o_3000
Hi guys, my dad says that since I plan on putting so much into my celi, (interior and exterior red glow, seats reupohlstered in red/black leather, reverse glow gausges, etc...just bragging biggrin.gif ...) that I should get a fuel cut-off switch hidden in the car to turn off when I leave so the car only has enough fuel to get a few blocks if stolen unless the switch is turned back on. (It closes the fuel line from the tank and leaves the engine with only what it already has) I was just curious as to any methods you guys think would work. I told him the security system I'm leaning toward has starter kill. What is starter kill and is it effective? My dad says that a fuel cut-off is the best bet and I just want to know more about it and how much it would cost and just some general info. Also I would just appreciate any ideas that anyone might have (bucket of water hanging over driver door, giant rolling boulder, boxing glove on a spring, ejector seat, etc.) lol but I seriosly do need ideas. Help me out!!!

P.S.- Sorry for this LONG ASS post!
flame thrower that that makes short work of the boogymans legs...and razors on the steering wheel and under the door handels...also you could just makit where if the wrong person open the door doe urine spills all over the bad guy...that will make him run from himself..haha

they dont need to start your car to steal anything..

Ive read somewhere about a safety system that engages your brakes when you hit something.. with that no one can move you car at all
I forgot to mention that the car would be parked in a University parking lot so, while it may still be easy to steal, it might be impractical to gut the car with the night watch on patrol...
id say wire up a switch to your fuel injection fuse in your engine bay, with that fuse disconnected your car will turn over but not start.

as far as protecting your insides, tinted windows and an alarm are about all you can do.
new idea.pa nigh watch an extra five bux..and tell em they get an extra twenty if there is a crook lying next to the car..haha

That fuel injection fuse sounds like a good idea. BTW, I've been meaning to ask about our car's specs. Fuel injection was one of my questions. Does anybody know how to wire that? Or does anyone have any other ideas that may be better or easier or just different. Not to put down your idea, but its always best to get as many as possible...

i've heard of the fuel pump cut switch before. i had thought it was more of an electrical cut-off switch, than something mechanical that closes the fuel line.

i was also under the impression that the amount of gas stored in the engine wasn't enough to get the car anywhere.

i'm not a mechanic though, anyone with more knowledge want to educate me on these points?
I've heard of shaved handles before, but what the hell does that mean???

you meen crank and not start.

BANNED!
I have shifter lock and fuel pump switch.. that should make some problems for thefts wink.gif. Not totaly theft proof (they always should use crane), but better than nothing...

its good to tell people the security in your cars. makes it easier for them to nick if they know roughly where you live!

You could put a switch in the positive wire to your fuel pump. Or you could put a mechanical tap in your fuel line. Both would be similar result but the switch would be easier to hide.

Shaved handles means taking out the keyhole and handles and welding a plate in its place, then the door would be popped open with a solenoid wired from your alarm spare.

Whenever you go to park it, just bring a handful of tacks with you. Throw them in front and back of your tires. lol. Just dont forget to remove when you get ready to leave. a theif isnt gonna pay any attention to that. buying new tires is better than buying a new car and finding yours burned down in a feild somewhere stripped completely of anything of any value. (i have a friend that had that happen too) also, i removed the trunk switch in my cab so that you have to have the keys to get into the trunk.

oh my god...all though i was joking about the whole tack thing...i just realized...that might actually work...lol

Cuz Thats How Us Country Boyz RollGrowing up racing motocross, i learned one thing..."Always wear clean underwear, you never know when the Paramedics are gonna have to cut your pants off of you"
Whoa....great thread, I think I need to put a post-it somewhere to remember to come back here. Theft is a HUGE problem where I live, and if they caan't steal the car, they do their best to break into it and take everything out...and my university has the WORST security ever (I've had speakers stolen from my last car).

All my friends want to know why I don't have my amps and 12's in yet...and I tell them...I NEED to get the alarms sytem working before I do ANYTHING....lol

....supposedly the one that's in has that starter kill you were talking about...because the guy who sold it to me said to be careful about playing with the fritsy alarm because if it's set the car will not start, period...

I say you smear flesh-eating bacteria under your door handles and just always make sure to wear gloves biggrin.gif

"I bet you drive a standard." "You could make some money off that bet." :D
simplest way to protect your car is to sell it, then you wont have to worry about it getting stolen.

a garage with a guard dog

i agree.....maybe an rottweiler.......the garage sounds good too biggrin.gif
Instead of wiring up a switch or something, just pull the injector fuses or the PCM fuse or the like. They can find a switch, but I doubt thieves carry extra fuses around much less would think to look there as the problem.
My dads making my bros car theft proof since it was already stolen but he wont even tell me what hes doing to it :-(

Ive never thought about really worrying about security on my celica. I used to leave my laptop and purse in it every night.

I dont think alarms really do that much good. When im at the mall and I hear one going off I just assume its going off because of an exhaust or something (usually cuz of me) so I dont think anyone pays attention to them. I would go for something like you were talking about a starter kill or something.

^^^i agree^^^ or pop out one of the engine harness...

from what i've been told the starter kill does work and stop the starter from turning over but if you have a manual they can push start or pop the clutch and get it going...correct me if i'm wrong...that's only if there's more then one person..

even with a slim jim you cant open my door, with lexan windows there would be no way in, only option would be to get a tow truck and drag it away wile the alarm screems. down side to lexan windows is in a crash if you car catches fire and your passed out, firefighters cant get it to help or get you out.

as far as theft proof, there is no such thing, there is always a way to take it, just gata do the best you can like a 2 way pager alarm, always snap locking your steering wheel so it takes the key to turn it, and keep all windows rolled up tight.

I have a two way pager alarm sistem, and I'm gonna install my rims this weekend so I gotta protect them too, for that I bought 5 set of 4 lock nuts, all 5 sets have diferents keys so I think I'll be installing one of each on every single wheel.
I know is gonna be a pain to change a tire but if it's hard for me I think it's gonna be a little harder for a thief to get all 4 wheels out of my car.

Park next to a Ferrari.. i'm pretty sure they'll steal that before the celi smile.gif

there's this device for storing cars, its basically a knob that replaces your pos. bat. terminal connector...they work remarkably well for cheap. i can't remember what in the deuce its called, but if you're interested, i'll look at the one on my buddies dads camaro.

the best i've seen are quick-release steering wheel hubs. nobody, no matter how good they are, can drive a car without a steering wheel!

some alarms have sensors in them that will set off the alarm if it goes out of level, i.e. someone tries to tow it away...which is pretty much a done deal anyway.

or just sit in it holding a loaded shotgun biggrin.gif

do you know who i am, mr. worley?

paint it bright fuscia w smiley faces everywhere and make it so if the car is running the only thing that plays through the speakers is Culure Club's Karma Chameleon at an extremely load setting and there is no way to turn it off without entering a password into the keypad connected to your stereo

or

the quick release hub and a starter disabling alarm w/ the siren mounted in the car
