Does any one have an Engine Diagnostic Tool to scan trouble codes?

If so, what kind do you have and how does it work. I found some online for less then $100 but are they all compatible with our cars?

post June 1995 produced toyota's have OBD II, goto Autozone and they'll hook it up for free. I found this out when my May produced Camry had OBD I lol

Good luck with that. A generic OBDII scanner with real time capability will cost a couple hundred. If you get one like the Auto X-Ray that comes with multiple cables for different manufacturers OBDI vehicles in addition to OBDII, those go for about $350 to well over $1K depending on where and what.
Snap-on tools Solus scanner... $$$$ =O

i just use toyota's scan tool, i was going to buy one for about $900, but toyota is coming out with a new one and they go for about $6000. so i don't think i'll be buying my own scan tool!
I use the elm based "allinone" code reader. It works on PC so you need a laptop or a PC at proximity.

In my case I'm using my carPC so the code reader is pretty much built into my car

I seen the same tool that AutoZone uses at Advanced Auto for $140. And I see a cheaper one at Walmart for $100. They really aren't that bad. It's a lot cheaper to make a switch to flip to check codes via check engine light.
