The How-To Articles Section is Renovated! - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #40342 7 posts Started by Coomer
After a long time in the works, I got motivated last night and worked my ass off so that I could put the new How-To Articles section online a couple minutes ago! biggrin.gif

Most how-to articles have inline images, all have larger and more useful thumbnail images, and all can be commented on. How-to photos can be commented on as well, and I, for one, will be going through my own how-to articles and commenting some stuff to clarify the photos for people. smile.gif

Also, how-to articles now have neat search-engine-and-people-friendly URLs. No more http://www.6gc.net/index.php?action=howto&itu=148...where does that go? 148 tells me nothing.

Instead, that how-to is at http://www.6gc.net/howto/install_front_sway_bar...much better! biggrin.gif (Of course, old URLs will still work)

A couple new how-tos were put online as well, and more are coming very soon. Let me know what you think. smile.gif

New Toyota project coming soon...
I like the restructure of the articles. There are how tos in the stickys also.
If there was a way to intigrate all the how tos to be accessable from the forums,
instead of going to the home page I think it would be helpful. Maybe you can
already do this and I havent learned how. It's happened before. kindasad.gif I recently
used the TRD Shortshifter install how to, and it was very helpful. I used the old
format, blowing up the pics and printing them worked well for me.

Hi Coomber

may I suggest this on the Audio installation pages -

If you can, make some links on the side or bottom or maybe a 'What's related' or 'You may be interested in this' ...
e.g. on your How to install subs page (http://www.6gc.net/howto/install_subwoofers_in_front_doors) add the links to:

Installing 6.5" Components In the Front http://www.6gc.net/index.php?action=howto&itu=47
Installing a New Head Unit http://www.6gc.net/howto/install_head_unit
Installing New Rear 6.5" speakers (not done yet - as I hope this is created with photos) but closest related link is here.. http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=40098

smile.gif The new layouts are better - hope this helps all who want to upgrade their sound system without searching so much.

Yeah, I've got plans to add a related links section to the how-to articles. smile.gif For now, you can post a comment though.

Will lag of the ".html" extension freak out the seach engines?

Though, nice work on the SEO links! You could probably apply it throughout the whole forum links.

Something like instead of :
www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=40342

it'd be :
www.6gc.net/forums/The_How-To_Articles_Section_is_Renovated-fr-40342.html

No, lack of .html won't freak out any search engines.

It's not really feasible for the forum topics though.
