New problem for my celica - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #40654 8 posts Started by 333WatchItGo333
Hey all. Just thought i would throw this one out to everyone to see if maybe someone else has had this problem and can possibly give me a solution. The other night i noticed that when i come to a stop and press the brake pedal, my headlights will literally go out and then come right back on mad.gif . I also noticed that when i doesn't do that, the headlights kinda flicker when i step on the brake. I checked my alternator and it is putting out 13.88 volts and the battery is receiving that voltage. So, i'm thinking that it may be something in the brake light circuit. If anyone has any idea what my problem is or if they can give me some troubleshooting ideas, i am all ears for anything. Thanks guys.
it probably can be your voltage regulator acting up.....
mine dim but they dont turn all the way off. that must be nuts stopping at night and it going black lol

Imagine being oncoming traffic.
GHOST CAR AHH
take off the altinator and battery and get them tested. also, check to make sure you altinator belt is in good shape.

15PSI - 30MPG - Megasquirt Tuned
check ur battery cables.

if they are loose it could cause that.

i duno but when my cables were loose and the car wass on at nite i would drive and when i get past 3000 rpm it would flash or flicker like lightning lol

but tha problem is fixed

Is this good enuff 4 ya? :D
Put it in neutral at a stop. Do the lights get brighter when you give it gas, then dim back down as the RPM's fall?

Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06. Suspension overhaul begins........
Nah, they don't brighten when i stop. I had that problem with my supra, but, with my celica, i don't know, it's weird. I mean they will completely shut off and then come right back on. I was talking to a friend of mine about it and he suggested a loose ground. Also that maybe the headlight and brake light circuit ground are possibly on the same spot and that maybe the headlight ground is loose and not making good contact. I don't know, i'm not much of an electricaly savvy person, but, i'm working on it. I have a basic theory of how electricity works, hell, i spent 6 months in technical school for the military learning about that crap. Anywho, just thought i'd drop what i found out from my buddy.
