I have a 94 St, and that, of course, has the open differential. and wheel hop occurs. My car is lowered and it has 18'' rims. What can i do to eliminate this problem?? is there any type of bolt ons, or anything.

Any information will be helpful, even if it may seem stupid or redundant.

Like how? What exactly are you doing when the hop occurs?

well on my bro's cobalt SS, we put an Ingalls engine torque damper.

For the celica, your only option is the motor mount inserts, wich i have, but havent driven the car yet so i cant say they work just yet.

It occurs when i drop the cluth, anything over 4k...



what do the motor mounts look like, and how to they stop wheel hop???

hey i had wheel hop with my ST also,, i have 17in rims...lower tire pressure, that helped me alot but will still hop some not nearly as bad,, hey its free to lower tire pressure miswell try ey? lol..

don't rev to 4k+ and dump it. Our cars are slow

yours might be,,lol. jk... my ST is actualy pretty fast for an ST, i can chirp the tires in 3rd gear : )

The underestimated ST. I can also spin the tires on mine with ease. Tire pressure is the key. If you keep your tires close to max the tire will have less traction. The lower it is the larger surface of the tire is on the road. Too low will be bad mostly if you have short sidewalls.

Fill motor mounts with polytherane or buy inserts. I did with mine, changed tyres and did wheel balanceing and I have no more wheel hop even if I dump the clutch at 4k. An beleive me dumping the clutch at 4k on a 3s-ge is another story!

no my ST isn't stock, theres no way a stock ST could chirp them in 3rd,,lol.. its all thanks to the competition racing clutch that i have put in it, along with other mods : )

^What kind of "other modifcations"??? i put a centerforfce dual friction (90+) in my car. and i chirp into 2nd.

There is a website out there that sells insterts for celicas. I saved it on my computer at home, and i am not there right now...but when i get home i will post it. They are $50 polyurathane inserts.

I get wheel hop when I launch my car at 4K.. with 46psi haha

I can spin my tires in my ST but cant get any chirp in 2nd or 3rd. Probably a result of my clutch going bad. But anyway, I dont get any hop, its a nice smooth spin lol.
