Positions in the Celica - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #40880 41 posts Started by BlackCelicaGT94
So I had to sleep in my celica on Saturday night and I found 3 ways - Anyone got any other ideas??

I actually caught myself thinking "I shoulda got a 4 door car" lol cuz it was not comfortable

Position 1 - Seat reclined back, steering wheel lifted all the way up, seat moved all the way back

Position 2 - Front seats moved all the way to the front and laying across the back seats. This was not comfortable due to the fact that in the middle it is raised and hits ya right in the side

Position 3 - I have a sub in the back mounted to the right passenger backseat so I put the left back seat down and had laid down. I had my bottom half in the hatch and top half on the folded back seat. It was cramped but was better than position 2.

I ended up back in Position 1 and was able to get 2.5 hours of sleep.

I should have just drove the 2 hours back home and slept for 5 hours then drove back out for work lol.

QUOTE(lagos @ Jul 10, 2006 - 1:55 PM) i know your trying to do the right thing for your motor, but this is one of those times where you should just trust the guys who have had their swaps for a while and have done a ton of research into this.
i chose to use my passenger seat and it worked well becuase the steering wheel isn't in my way. What i did was have my seat reclined a bit, and slid back, but not all the way back! just far enough so that i could rest my feet onto the dash where the airbag is. Ofcourse i don't want to dirty up my dash, so i had my shoes off and a hoodie to soften and protect the dash and make it more conforitable. This was prolly the most conforitable position in my opinion. I also the put the top down and watched the stars for awhile, but made sure to put it back up before i fell asleep. I didn't want anything to bother me while i was sleeping haha.

I have tried position 2 before, but with the seat belt buckles stabbing me in the back, it was very uncomforitable.

Position 3 is impossible for me, as my rear seats do not fold down frown.gif

Teh Celica sleeps for Winter '06. Suspension overhaul begins........
i sleep in my passenger seat.... reclined and moved all the way back. lots of leg room and sometimes i put my feet up on the dashboard.

ss-iii splitters and 404 skirts areon. which means i need to update my sig.
Why would you put your self in the position of sleeping in the car in the first place? In such a case I would probably have my camping gear in the car with me and do that instead. Sleeping in the car is always dangerous should not make a habbit of it.

I dont agree with sleeping it off when your are drunk or really tired because people tend to park it in the highway and lots of accidents have been caused this way. If you need to sleep and dont have a choice, you need to at least pick a nice and safe place (no danger of being hit or the car rolling down the road).
^ i dont know if your implying that I slept in a stupid place but i didnt lol. I parked in a grocery store parking lot and then when all the lights turned off at midnight and freaked me out I went to an apartment complex.

It was either sleep in my car or on the floor. I cant do the floor!

^ wow, I bet you didn't expect all this mess.

I haven't sleep in my celi, but things happen and we don't always have money to afford the cheapest motel on the road; that's just life. That's how we learn to value what we have. And for some of us hating on this, that's just because we've never been on a situation like that, but the time will come and we'll think diferent. smile.gif
i don't usually sleep in my car. but a couple semesters ago i had the crappiest schedule which had like a 3 hour gap in between my classes. so instead of driving home and back, i slept in my car when i was tired.

I'll give you a crappy schedule:

8:00 - 8:50 class

5:15 - 6:45 class.

Nothing in between.

3 hours is a good gap for me. tongue.gif

It's good the rest of the days aren't quite as bad as that.

The only times when i have had to sleep in my car was when i was driving cross country and my car was packed full of things. So full that i couldnt recline the seat. But if you are tired enough, youll sleep in any position. And these are the times when ive been driving 13+ hours and am falling asleep on the road. I would pull over at a rest stop, sleep for an hour or two, and then keep going.

Its Orville's Celica, i just drive it...

SO long as my wife approved biggrin.gif

My olds is good for sleeping in, the seats recline way back and there is plenty of room.

The corbeau seats are great for driving, but suck for napping in, even leaned way back. And some of us are too tall to fit in the trunk-back seat area. If I had to I would use the car as a wimmin magnet and sleep with one of the many that would stop to touch the car.

Or the ground.
Position 1 with a blanket.

Always keep a blanket in your car wink.gif
