ebay coilovers - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #41278 22 posts Started by block
anyone have experience with ebay coilovers?..are they any good? just curious. people keep saying they break or whatever but i've had my ebay springs for almost 3 years with my other car. no problems whatsoever...i dont want to get too expensive. im basically the only person who drives the celica. so there wont be much weight.

btw, dont tell me to get teins or dropzones or whatever. i just want someone with a feedback who has these on.

i drove a friend's celica which had some ebay coilovers installed. i feared for my life. the car swayed back and forth, and felt like it wasn't even stuck to the road.

x2

I had ebay coilovers installed for about... 2 hours before I put my stock springs back and bought Teins.
the price should say it all.
they cost ~ 40 dollars Shipped on ebay, and from the manufacturer they cost ~ 23 dollars shipped.
so the price should give you an idea of what you are getting.
try to get some arospeed coilovers, I found the price to be ok and some people here have good feedback about them.

what kinda ground control do you have? how much drop do you have on your car? looks very nice
i personally wouldn't get them. its one thing to put a cheap item on your engine and have your car die in the middle of the freeway. but to put cheap coilovers and have your wheels fly off is something i'd worry about.

ss-iii splitters and 404 skirts areon. which means i need to update my sig.

I'm at work, so searching time is limited.

arospeed coilovers

how about those dropzones on the site? any difference? i may just get those aerospeed ones or the dropzones. i've heard of dropzone springs but not coilover. btw, i did search and looked at the dropzone springs but didn't see coil so ill look again to specify.
why not save up for the teins coilovers which are more relaiable than these cheapy coilovers?
dont have that much money in place. i just want something that will lower my car.

they are just ground control coilovers. they run about 400 for the set, and they lower the car around 2.5" from stock. give or take 1/4" inch. i wouldn't have anything else when it comes to sleeve coilover kits. smile.gif.

Do you think that Tein or Dropzone zone's are better cause they are about the same price...I have always heard good things about tein but I have not really heard anything about DZ

Get TRD's, they have an awesome feel. Not bumpy.

dropzone springs are not coil overs, theyre an adjustable height crappy spring. tien springs are MUCH better, when have you ever seen a rally or professional motor sports car with a big dropzone sticker on its side?

a coil over is a spring with threaded retainers which are threaded onto the body of the strut which lets you adjust ride height. each time height is adjusted and alignment is needed, so just pick a heigh and leave it there. i can guarantee that if you rode on dropzones through some rough road and then around turns then rode in a car through the same area with tiens, that you'd chuck the crap and get tiens.

i had some on for about 2 months .. with new struts they are fine for me i had about a 2 inch drop . but i ended up putting the stock springs back in just cause i couldn't deal with the popping sound from the front. as for the handling it was better then stock for me. but i wouldnt use them to go to the track.
