It is designed to do that UNDER LOAD. Free rev'ing will kill a motor pretty fast. It'd be cool if the dude was on the street (or track!

) doing that - but in the garage is just stupid. Most new cars have significanly lower rev limits when the car isn't moving/under load for just that reason (like 4500rpm on a 7000rpm capable motor).
