Holes worn thru Convertible top from when folded - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #41512 12 posts Started by tnltracy

Anyone with verts have problems with the frame causing wear holes when folded? I have twin spots wearing both sides where the frame rubs on them when down. It seems that the frame pushes down right next to the inner strut mount bolt which is causing the wear.

I don't know if I have stock struts or not, but the bolts seem to stick up more than 1/2 inch. Thinking if I saw them down that may solve the problem, but looking for input. frown.gif

I read about that before I got my vert - it's apparently a common enough problem that Toyota issued a bulletin about it. Not sure what the fix for it is since mine didn't rub through, maybe dig up that bulletin - I'm sure it's accessible on the web somewhere.

I dont have the car anymore. But, I doubt they would show up on a picture anyway.

I tried to find the bulletin on the internet - that's where I saw it the first time. This is all I could come up with - maybe someone with better search skills than I can dig it up.

I found references to it online, but no available downloads. I'm going to stop by the local Toyota dealer and see if I can get a copy there. Winter's coming, don't want melting snow in my car!

I called a local dealership the other day asking about some things and out of curiousity asked how much for JUST the ragtop (no motors, no rear window, no install, no weatherstriping etc) and it was $2499 CAD.
