Ok this is just killing me. $5 OEM o ring and the mother *&&^*( still leaks. I have used every color of silicon in the rainbow but the ^*^*(^% still leaks all over down both front and rear of engine. Like 1 quart every 1000 miles. For god sakes gimme some new ideas.

uhh... what engine are we talking about here? On some toyota engines, the dizzy is secured with a cap similar to a cam cap. A loose cap would cause a leak.

It would be the distributor. But the "right stuff" looks like the ticket. Now to find the crap. Might also make a .030 gasket but would use aluminum it was what we got on hand.

I can't believe it. I tried "the right stuff". Had it scraped to 100% bare metal on both sides...it STILL LEAKS! I am considering JB weld next.

Are you sure that it isn't a cracked housing in any way?
yup look for scartches and grooves on the dizzy shaft and engine housing..
its not just that oring that it can leak from.

It probably has a internal O-ring also. Housing to housing, and shaft to housing.
Harr.
if its still leaking, you need to take apart the whole dizzy and rebuild it with a kit.
please dont try JB weld on it.

The JB weld was a bit of a joke. Yes it leaks from the bottom every time. Gravity is the only reasopn no grooves or anything. There is only 1 O ring on the shaft between the oil and the open air. The Napa one leaked like crazy, the Toyota one has done a little better. Dizzy is pretty much completely rebuilt, o ring, coil, cap and rotor. I am just sorta on my last legs with ideas but it is clearly a matter of bonding the dizzy with the head/valve cover.
