Today sucks.

Chris and I fell asleep in my bed last night which is a twin and my neck is killing me.
Not to mention that we had to share it with Tonka (my 110lb dog) as you can imagine i did not have much room.

Police stun naked, belligerent man

HOPEWELL JUNCTION — A Poughkeepsie man stabbed himself, stripped naked and smashed an East Fishkill patrol car repeatedly in a rage early Monday morning before officers subdued him, East Fishkill police said.

Scott Belton, 34, began his confrontation with police about 2:55 a.m. His girlfriend had called 911 and Belton met the first officer outside the Martin Road home while brandishing a butcher knife, Sgt. Corey Ehrhart said.

A second unit arrived, and officers Ken Knapp and Paul Gaston tried to calm Belton down as he argued with his girlfriend and stabbed himself with the butcher knife, Ehrhart said. They also called for back-up from state police and the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.

After police separated Belton from his girlfriend, Belton took his clothes off, allegedly grabbed a baseball bat and a "club" anti-theft device and started smashing the windshield, hood, both headlights, spotlight and grill of an East Fishkill patrol car. He took the butcher knife and started stabbing the hood of the patrol car, Ehrhart said.

Taser deployed

As Belton continued his rage, officers from the three agencies kept him at gunpoint as they awaited the arrival of a sheriff's deputy with a Taser stun device. Once there, Deputy Joel Petrus shocked Belton, knocking him onto the side of the heavily damaged patrol car and ending the confrontation after some 30 minutes.

"Every officer there showed a tremendous amount of restraint and patience," Ehrhart said, noting Belton tested the limits with officers several times as he approached them with the knife and bat. The use of the Taser, he said, is "probably what kept him from getting killed."

Belton was brought by East Fishkill Rescue Squad to Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie, where he remained Monday morning.

Police anticipate charging Belton with felony criminal mischief, among several other charges.

The damaged patrol car was towed from the scene and brought to a repair shop. Police estimated the car sustained more than $5,800 in damage.
