new supra - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #42105 32 posts Started by jayi12-15psi
I was just wondering if anyone had seen the newest supra rendition in the new road and track. I like the way it looks, and they seem to think toyota is aiming for 2008. Thoughts?

-will post pics when I'm back at home

Cuz Thats How Us Country Boyz RollGrowing up racing motocross, i learned one thing..."Always wear clean underwear, you never know when the Paramedics are gonna have to cut your pants off of you"
i saw it in road and track... and it looks nice - and looks to be that it's gonna be priced near affordable. I just dont like the v6 idea - the supra was all about an inline 6, and not putting an I-6 in this new car is just gonna be ludacris frown.gif .... i want the I-6 stock twin or single turbo set-up.... no all motor v6 - ridiculous
guess im picking up a copy of this months road and track on my way home from work today...woot

Those pictures have been around for more than a year. From what I heard.. The "Supra" or Toyota's supercar would be put in the Lexus line up. I wouldnt mind seeing a V6 in a "supercar" maybe.. they can detune the 2GRFE some and throw a supercharger hahaha

1GZFE anyone? (V12 in a Toyota Crown)
Personally, i think they have ruined it. The body style of the last gen was absolutely imaculate. Perfect in every perspective.

those def aren't the pics in the new r&t, there is only one pic in the mag and it's of a red one that looks hellas better then those pics. Anyway, I agree with the neccessity of a I-6 but I still think I'll try to buy one. I always had the idea that they should just re-release the old supra with some technology upgrades, they could still sell it for just under 30k and be priced about the same as the used supras. I know that sounds crazy, but I agree with the thought that the last supra was immaculate.

if thats the picture of the new supra..Im trading in my s2k for it.. Woot

[color=#FF0000] I MISS MY RED BABY =(
If they release anything close to a Supra, the most informed prediction I've heard is this.

Lexus

Hella expensive

N/A
i don't mind that look.. the rear looks good as it is, but the front? hmmm... perhaps the front bumper could use a little remodeling but doesn't look too too bad..
however, we definitely need more pics before i can give my full opinion.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
the first pictures are wayyyy old! 2-5 yrs old! the most recent one is the red one...it looks nice but the rear resembles the s2k...but i read this thing goes 0-60 in 4 secs...not bad for v6..also they should include a twin turbo or something...keep the tradition of turbo alive!!!!!!!!
yea but toyota "wants their mpg's"

*cough* hybrid supra *cough* lmao

dood that would suk!

Is this good enuff 4 ya? :D

I could care less if it runs on nail polish remover, if it's fast and economical, you would be a moron to hate on that...

Car #3: 98 Accord LX- purchased 5/06, totaled 8/06Car #2: 95 Celica GT- purchased 8/03, current daily driverCar #1: 01 Focus ZX3- purchased 5/01, sold 8/03
guys I also agree with you when you say the 93-98 supra looks way better than this one, but the way I look at it is this, at least now we'll have a toyota sport car instead of the Matrix or the corolla S ( not sport by any meaning ) so I looking forward to get this car once is release. and if we can get 350 HP from factory N/A engine think about how far can you go if you slap a turob to this engine. I mean ofr a street car I wouldn't like to have more than 500 HP even if it's RWD.

just my opinion
i couldn't wait till someone posted the pic from the magazine so i checked the website. no pics but some interesting info.

ss-iii splitters and 404 skirts areon. which means i need to update my sig.

The red looks like the 93+ I like it
The black looks like a Mits. FTO not cool.
The white 2000gt super cool!

I hate the view of the black one from the front... hate it. I think it's kinda stupid to say that it would be super slow as an rx-8, it would push out more power than the 350z, which is a low 5 sec car and is pretty quick.

Yeah about the MPG part. Both the engines are Fuel Effiecent engines. LAME!
if you can get over 300 hp and good gas mileage, why the hell not? That's rediculous. A muscle car with good mpg is about the best thing ever.

Yeah but performance-wise, lets change both 7A-FE and 5S-FE to 7A-GE and 5S-GE. You will know the difference.
I like the rear...but the front...eh...I guess I'm just not a big fan of these newer "futuristic" looks that cars are getting these days...

ever find it funny that 20-25 years ago, "futuristic" meant lots of straight edges, angles, slants, corners and whatnot, and these days, it's all about the curve? It seems the less "straight" you can get, the better...

edit: interesting too to see how far apart the Celi and Supra have grown in looks

I usually do not cross post, but it has been discussed too often.

There were rumors of a 8th gen Celica ?
https://wfs.bc.edu/melket/Public/Car_stuff/8gen.jpg
What happened to that ?
There was a rumor of an awd turbo'd Corrola RunnerX .
Turned out to be a April fools joke. frown.gif

Even the Caldina GT4 is an Auto Only in the Japan market. (I'd Still like one :-)
When do you think the US will get a Real Sports car, manual powerful etc..; from Toyota ?

Regards;
