so i just bought 20sq feet of dynamat and i was wondering if anyone has ideas as to where the best spots to put it are. also has anyone tried using the original to go on side panels or is it only for the floors.
any cool tricks to instal this stuff?

I would say the main spots to put it are on the door panel, inside the door panel (mainly behind the midbass speaker), the trunk, and the back of your license plate. What I found most helpful is cutting it into small pieces, then place it on the spot you want and using a heat gun/hair dryer to sort of "activate" the adhesive on the back and then press it down. I'm not sure which type of dynamat you got, but if it's thin make sure you use a couple layers.

Get it hot. Damn hot. My shop always used a commerical heat gun. We had to wear leather gloves to handle it. Also wipe down the areas you plan to apply it with acetone or laquer thinner to get the surface really clean. Just keep the solvent away from the heat gun. Then just apply it and put as much pressure as you can onto it. A wooden or hard plastic roller helps.

As for where to put it. Door panels will help alot. The rear wheel wells also put alot of noise into the car especially when it's raining. Then if you have any left start covering the floor.

Dynamat is a mass loader and a bit of a blocker(foil).It is useful for large flat panels and the best bang for buck is ear level panels.

Examples would be, doors, rear quarter panels.

Using Dynamat on the floor is expensive and gives very little benefit since mass loading the floor panels doesnt do much. Floors are already convoluted therefore it wouldnt vibrate much. Only the thin aluminium is doing its job as a blocker. For a cheaper solution, try sticking rubber mat beneath the interior carpet.

sorry i didnt see this sooner. There is a company called e.Dead! They have this spray on stuff, yes it renders your vehicle useless for a day while it dries but from whay I hear its very cheap and extremely good quality. I know people that have used e.Dead and they are very pleased.

I just used a "trunk-kit" and a half to fill the back of my celica. I didn't do the front of the car b/c I thought it'd be pointless. That, and it gets expensive. I've gotta take some pics!

Well, once you get some aftermarket mid-bass' in your front doors you're going to want to put some on there.

Doesn't have to be too hot, just do it during summer when its like 90 outside and you car was baking in the sun for bout 4 hours. It will stick and wont ever want to come off . I put my dynomat in the doors and in rear quater pannels. Which made it way more queiter.

well its all in now and it has made a huge difference with bass and road noise. ill probably end up buying some more for the floor in the hatch it seemed pretty thin. and maybe put some carpet over it. i also put some towels behind a few of the panels which seemed to help with rattles.

yea, it helps out alot. it can also make your speakers sound much better since you dont have to crank them up as loud and you'll get clearer sound.
