Steff, while that may work, the best bet is to use a SPDT relay.

Terminal 30 would go to a fused +12 volt power wire, 87 would go to the positive wires on the sidemarkers (which you'd cut,) 85 would go to ground and 86 would splice into the
green/black wire that goes to the turn signal on the left side, or the green/yellow wire that goes to the turn signal on the right side.And they don't make dual filament 194 bulbs for the sidemarkers by the way.

your side markers will stay off and just blink with the turn signal. to make them do the same thing as the turn signal you would need a dual filament bulb like the turn signal has. but, as Coomer pointed out, they don't make dual filament 194 bulbs. I figured there must be a dual filament bulb of some sort that will fit into the same socket as the 194, but I am not sure
edit: thanks Coomer, thats a much more professional way of going about it. I was taking the "bored one day and want to try something new but I'll probably end up messing up the car" approach to the project
