saw this on mr2oc. seems pretty cool

looks cool, i just dont like the way they "test" the hks...its not even connected to a pipe....just a vac source.
i went over to theyre site, one thing i noticed that i took note of was theyre FPR..seems like a very interesting design..ive been looking around for a 1:1 regulator..

They "synchronic" BOV is just like my forge motorsport recirc valve... it uses nothing but a spring and a valve that slides in the cylinder.. no diaphram. The vacuum source goes right into the top of the cylinder so when you are not in boost the valve is being sucked open against the spring tension. That way when you close throttle the valve opens and stops compressor surge.

I liked their FPR as well.. and I'm very interested in the wastegate as well.

only thing bad i noticed about this bov, is that once it blows off, it STAYS OPEN! wtf is that about? you would not be able to vent this on any afm based car and even on a map car, it would suck outside air in at idle.

the cool thing is, that it looks like it works with an existing hks flange and recirculation adaptor.

i wouldn't buy it. big deal. opening .2 secs sooner or w/e isnt worth it to me. not like your gunna gain any power. as long as my current BOV holds boost, opens when it supposed to and doesn't cause pressure surge then im all set.

but it is cool that normal people came out with it and a big company hasnt stolen the design yet.

UH OH..... i just had a new BOV put on (the old one that was put on with the swap held little boost and eventually gave out on me) the one i have now (a knockoff of a turbo XS RFL) is causing that same rattling sound that he described as pressure surge. what was that he did to cause it in the video? and how can i combat it? is it because the BOV is too hard to open? should i relieve the tension?

you can play with the tension on yours until it goes away. some bov's just sound like that tho, and it might not be compressor surge.

yeah i know. i was talking about afm. my car wouldn't even hold idle with that thing vented.

Generally, you should adjust your BOV to be as 'loose' as possible without giving you idle problems (ie closed at idle) and minimizing stumbling between shifts. If your BOV has an adjustment, try loosening it (or removing washers or whatever). This will allow it to react as fast as possible. There is a chance that this cause it to come open under high-boost situations - in this case, tighten it a bit more... you get the idea.

that makes PERFECT sense, when i got the bov, the guy at the shop put an extra washer or two in there, (the piston in the bov was already pretty stiff) and i notice the sound isnt coming from the bov its coming from further down the ic piping. will check tomorow to see exactly where the sound is coming from...
