>the one i have now (a knockoff of a turbo XS RFL) is causing that same rattling sound that he described as pressure surge. what was that he did to cause it in the video? and how can i combat it? is it because the BOV is too hard to open? should i relieve the tension?
In the video, he simply pinched off the vacuum line that was actuating the BOV...
Generally, you should adjust your BOV to be as 'loose' as possible without giving you idle problems (ie closed at idle) and minimizing stumbling between shifts. If your BOV has an adjustment, try loosening it (or removing washers or whatever). This will allow it to react as fast as possible. There is a chance that this cause it to come open under high-boost situations - in this case, tighten it a bit more... you get the idea.
