i was looking around and was wondering a few things about a staggered setup on the 4

-ive seen pictures and mod lists saying 8.5 inch rims in the front 9.5 inch rims in the rear. can anyone point me to where i can find offsets/specs for these wider rims on the car? ive checked gt4oc, but noone lists their offsets

-im assuming the rolling diameter of the tire and rim has to be almost identical in order to keep from burning up the center diff?

i kno that "GT-4" had 19's on his ride....19x8 w/ a 38mm offset up front and 19x9 w/ a 35mm offset out back. he had intrax springs on them also i believe. search, u shoudl be able to find the specs.
he was running 225/35/19 f and 245/35/19 r i think too

Personally, I wouldnt risk having a staggered set up because of the diff and also how it might affect handling.

I'm running an offset of 38 on a 17"x8" alloy on my GT4, had the same offset with my old 18"x8"'s as well.

i thought about it after i posted, i guess what i meant was an 18 x 8 wheel with a 35 offset up front and a 28 offset (or whatever) in the rear -same rolling diameter, diffrent offsets so not a true staggared setup i guess

There is no standard offset to use because offset varies depending on how wide the rim you choose is.

yes, the offsets were posted ,but the problem ive run into isn't just the offset anymore

ive found after posting this thread is that you can't get say a 235/40/18 tire to be the same rolling diameter as a 255/35/19 tire (just using those size as close examples -wider tread with lower profile) you can get the diameters close, but not exact -therefor you'ed be slowly destroying the center diff.

so i think im just going to go with an 18x8 rim with less offset in the back if i cant find anything else.

There are a lot of st185 gt4 owners with the jdm widebody who run 25mm spacers at the rear to fill out the arches for the cosmetics of it all but running different sized rims or tyre profiles is all going to end in tears and gears.

I think even running different offsets also effects the geometry of the suspension. A few of the gt4oc guys have reported adverse affects from running spacers at the rear axles, but keeping the front standard (ie, a staggered set up).
Not sure how easy it would be to feel the differences, though i'm just realying what's been posted.

i don't see how spacers would prove a negative effect?
i have them and no problems at all, as well as many of my friends (M3s, audis..ect.)
my car actually handles better with spacers then as compaired to w/o

why would u want to run 18s in the front and 19s in the rear? that just makes no sense

but if you want to run the same diameter wheel all the way around (18s all corners) and go say 8" in the front and 9" in the rear..there shouldn't be anything wrong with that provided u get correctly sized tires
