ok,

Looks like i will be needing to replace my rear wheel bearings.

All the shops in town only carry the hub+bearing assembly. I have however found a wheel bearing module. It is only the bearing and not the hub and is at a fraction of the cost.... $300 for the assembly and $80 for the module.

I haven't taken apart the bearing/hub assembly and am not sure if I will be able to savage the remaining needed parts....

Need some wise info from all you gurus on the best plan of attack without killing my wallet!

except the thing is toyota presses in the wheel hub then presses the hub and nut so you can't really remove it
not sure if you'll be able to tell from this picture what i'm talking about but at about "2 o'clock" you can see where there is a pressed notch thats what is extremely hard to undo


basically to seperate wheel hub from bearing hub = HUGE HUGE HUGE biznatch

theres a few members parting put celicas, try one of theirs, you can put an ST hub on but you wont have your abs on.

st hub will fit on a gt but doesnt have abs on it so your abs light will be on and unactive.

WRONG, when ANY fault is found on the ABS system the whole ABS system is disabled.

WRONG, when ANY fault is found on the ABS system the whole ABS system is disabled.

This is correct. ANY ABS fault detected will disable the entire system. A single tire locking up in a panic braking condition with the others still rolling woudl cause a sudden pull to that side, possibly causing loss of control.

GT but no abs that hub will work..GT hub and ST hub are the same

its ABS vs NON-ABS that i believe is the difference...though i've only ever done hub work on NON abs cars so ive never seen the difference i'd trust my good friend lew on that info

all hubs ive seen are non-abs.

what do people with ABS do?

the abs ones have a larger hole in the center with this spindle looking thingy on the end, it just lets the sensor know somehow.

yea, i bit the bullet and got one from a dealer, i couldnt find one with the abs tone ring anywhere else

Totoyta wants $470 (Canadian) each for ABS rear bearing + hub assemblies.....

Can anyone find me a better price?
