Venting BOV - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #43789 3 posts Started by 6gsillyca
My BOV is currently re-circulated, and I was wondering how I would go about venting it back into the atmosphere. I bought the car with a completed 3sgte swap but the BOV had been recirculated back into the intake. Now I know that the performance gains are better with it being recirc (no backfires, better response...) but I have been wanting to play around with it, and was also wanted to see first-hand how dramatic the performance gains are.

Can I just disconnect the recirc tube from the BOV, and cap the nipple on the intake tubing, or would I need to get a different intake tube w/o the recirc nipple and use that. Im worried if I just cap the nipple off, that the excess pressure (before BOV releases) could blow the cap off and would create boost problems.

if you want to hear the sound go to you tube, otherwise dont take a swap that someone obviously did right and undo their hard work..

but yes, remove the recirc tube and cap the intake nipple off, if you plan on leaving it vented, i would recommend buying a 2nd gen alltrac intake as it has no recirc hole, or having someone (lagos makes them here) make you a custom intake.

Also, youtube only has 2 clips of this type of BOV and they arent the best. I only wanted to play around and experiment. The last boosetd car I owned (dsm awd) was completely stock and I had always wanted to play around with this type of stuff. Cant learn if you dont do! biggrin.gif
