First Toyota! - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #43803 30 posts Started by 99GT
I'm buying a 99 GT shortly here. I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm from Minnesota, USA.

I'm Joe, 19 and asian.

I've been reading lots of threads. I plan to do a nice gt-4 conversion. Just the front end to make it look nice. That'll be all. No major mods or anything.

This is the first toyota that I'm buying. I'm a huge dsm guy. 4-5 1g dsm so far. Selling my 92GSX currently. I can't wait for this project. Nice and reliable.

Thanks.

Good choice! 99' is the last year of a good Celica! I hope you will enjoy the car!

Congrats!! and Welcome!! I think you'll like it here.. I know i do. smile.gif

~Daniel~ No Longer Celica Owner.. moved on to a 03 WRX-EJ207
Welcome. smile.gif Most of us are friendly here, so if you have any questions just ask. biggrin.gif

YoungSurvival.Org-Celica traded for.. 350z.. traded for Mazda5.. soccer mom!
From DSM to Toyota is definitely an upgrade! My brother had a clean 1992 eagle talon TSI with only 80,000 miles but it was a PAIN to maintain. He traded it for a honda because he needed a reliable daily beater that will not crap out on him. For reliablity, I think Hondas and Toyotas are the way to go. thumbsup.gif

Welcome. The '99 GT has some pretty good upgrades from the earlier models ['98 same] - metal headgasket, sideskirts, redesigned front, wing etc. Good choice.

I am hmong, speak and write also
I am in the st. paul area also
I have no clue what model it is
99 latchback
5spd

Thanks you guys.

I will post pictures as soon as possible.
if its a GT, there should be a GT badge in the back, or in the title somewhere, or documents that the dealership gave to you. If you dont see GT anywhere, it's most likely the base model. Dont really matter, they're both slow anyways, lol, true story. Lets see those money shots joe!

I know that its a GT. But Malpaso was talking about that haha. I was whipping under the hood today and say something similar to those code numbers. I'll check in the morning.

Very nice... lowered with clear turns, that's awesome! If it's a '99, it's definately a GT. smile.gif

LoL. Funny you said that. From the looks of it, it already looks better than those hondas as it is.

LoL. I don't know. Im not sure either. LoL.

99GT You said earlier you plan on the GT-FOUR conversion? I might know a cheaper way if you plan on doing aftermarket GT-FOUR conversion instead of stock GT-FOUR conversion. Note me if you are interested.

I live about 15 minutes away from Dearborn. You're lucky I didn't see the car first. wink.gif
Hahah I was worried someone was going to pick it up. I gave them a deposit to hold it for me while I get all my crap ready. After a week of calling back and forth... brought her home. $300 gas and toll. 1000 miles on dads truck. $500 added to the celica.
