Driver CV axle. *pix* - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #43837 10 posts Started by My2Celi
My axle crapped out on me again. iono how, but i got a life time warranty at oreilly. So i finally got the time to get myself another one. I place the cv axle just far enough to where it lines up and then i hammer it with a rubber mallet at the end of the joint to get the snap ring in. This is the result

It's pretty far in but is that in enough? before i put tranny fluid in again. I just want to make sure. Thanks.

Can you just slide it back out? When I put in my passenger side, you could feel when it was properly set in place.
i cant pull it out at all, but it just seem like before it would be more in.

Does the rotor and all that assembly go back on fine. If it seems a little tight you can try to tap the end a little, but be careful not to mess up the axle by using a metal hammer. I used a plastic hammer on a board to tap one axle in a little further once.
i drove it today and it seems fine. Except from the starting slow acceleration i can hear something like a rust old door opening

Did you grease everything up when you put it in? Only thing I can think of with my limited knowledge of axle installation.
dont think i need to grease anything, cause its a replacement from oreilly. I should just give up on this car perfections. My celica is a waste of money.
