Hey guys, I was trying to remove the shock cartridge from my front struts today, but, it's a b**** to take off the large nut that holds it in. Any ideas to help ease the nut removal. LEt me know, thanks.
first time I think we set it on the ground, took a pipe wrench, with a pipe on the end for added leverage and finally got it off..

second time my friend took it to work where they have a huge vise and he has a huge wrench that got it off with ease..

~Daniel~ No Longer Celica Owner.. moved on to a 03 WRX-EJ207
i ran my struts over and used a pipe wrench with pb blaster but in the end a good anchored vise with a pipe wrench works best
we gave up and just bought full strut housings.

ss-iii splitters and 404 skirts areon. which means i need to update my sig.
good times ay joe...put a vise with dremel attachments in my stocking!
From my experience, the center nut won't come off because the groove of the strut mount plate is worn. I used a big vice grip to so the strut stem would not move around.

i brought mine to meineke and they did it for a fee. They WILL come out.
hey when i was takin my off wat i did was to ... slacken the nut while the shock was still braced down by the 3 nuts , but don't slacken the nut all the way cuz that was cause trouble lol . then take off the 3 nuts , then as u take off the shock ... the center nut will be easier to remove.

Just be careful of this method, do not loosen the center bolt too much it will pop and shoot straight down and is either dangerous or your cv boots will tear.

you could torch the nut for a bit and try the pipe wrench
