i am considering molding my rear bumper of my kit. i have never worked with fiberglass and wanted to know how hard it is and is it worth it. i have heard that the mold can crack when being tapped in the parking lot or even weaken with the canging weather conditions. i guess my question is, is it worth it when i am going to get a paintjob/how easy does it crack/how to repair if cracked?

my bumper was molded by a professional and let me tell you, if you dont know exactly what your doing, DONT do it. Its ALOT of work to get it smoothed out and flush with the body of the car. As far as cracking and or weakening, i havent experienced any of that....

i agree, if you dont know what youre doing...its going to be a pain in the ass! its easy to get the hang of if you can get to practice, but you DEFINATELY NEED a powersander with low grit sandpaper to begin with. and youre not supposed to put alot of mold over the fiberglass...just a little friend applied the fiberglass to mold on my rear bumper in my parking space, sanded it in his autobody class...

i agree, i would definately have someone help me, i was just trying to decide whether or not its worth doing before i spend the money on a paint job and having the mold crack andall.

Mine never cracked either and drove it all winter for a year without a problem

Man! your car is one of best celicas ive ever seen. i remember seeing your car on cardomain, that things amazing. love the pic next to the puddle where you can see the reflection!

We molded one of my friends sideskirts and have to say it was a lots of work but worth it. Saved lots of money and even after a year theres no cracks. But you def have to get some knowledge before doing anything. Its not hard even at first time when you just got someone to tell you how to do it.

I had my rear lip molded to my bumper. Just recently got rear ended by a semi, and it didn't even crack my mold. or lip.

My painter doesn't mold bumper/spoilers/skirts etc etc because he can't give any garantees it will not crack. Because of vibrations in the roads and resonance it will crack, its just a matter of time, maybe a week or even maybe a year, but he has seen it happen alot. (his words)

i think ive gone against the idea now, i just don't think its worth the chance
