I need Proof - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #44100 11 posts Started by BlackCelicaGT94
My bf keeps arguing with me that he saw in a magazine that the Supra would be coming out in 08. Can someone please direct me to proof to show him that if anything its just a concept but there is NOT a supra coming out on the market in 2008

Everything that I see is saying that it's just a concept. No factual data supplied referring to production!

This is the latest concept from Toyota, the FT-HS which will debut at the detroit auto show in January. This is a CONCEPT that many speculate could reflect the new supra, possibly a hybrid supra, but most likely it is just showing that Toyota might be trying to "de-vanilla" itself. If this is the concept and they do plan on bringing it to production, then it would be RARE for a concept to go from first showing to production in one year. Its only been done a handful of times in the history of the car industry. And based on the looks of this concept, it is no where near production.

The biggest proof i can give is that no offical press release has been given by Toyota, nor has anything been confirmed for '08 like the IS-F. Car magazines and webistes can speculate all they want. They get it right as many times as they get it wrong. If there is no offical press release or announcement from toyota, then there is no car.

Its Orville's Celica, i just drive it...
Well they stop producing Celica's over here in Aus, don't know about where u guys are but apparently toyota wanted to relaunch the Supra to the Oz market, or so i heard frown.gif
If the Supra were coming out in 08 which is basically next year then there would be a concept made already that was setup for production. Right now Toyota is releasing stuff like the LF-A and FT-HS and these are highly conceptual and basically show what Toyota will be doing style wise and not an actual production car. It takes years from concept to production and they generally dont make a concept and then apply a name to it. Usually its ok lets design the new supra, and they go for that.

Take the 2009 Camaro. That concept came out when? Early this year sometime? 3 years before its planned debut and you bet they had that before its concept was released. Its all speculation, every new toyota sports concept released people cry Supra when its not.

Do what i do. You don't need to prove anything to him...get him to prove it to you. Tell him to find a press release from Toyota saying that the supra is in production.
It will be out. about a year after the Skyline hits the US shores

[TeamNJCT
tell him he couldn't afford one anyway, so he shouldn't worry about it. haha.

Yeah, they aren't doing it anywhere. The Scion tC is taking over the Toyota Celica's place.
