Hey there, little guy...aren't you supposed to be attached to that hole above? rolleyes.gif

Once I removed all the attaching hardware, the entire thing came off. It was just resting inside there. I have NO CLUE how it happened. It hasn't been used in a long time and I decided to start driving it a couple of days a week and going long distances to get it used to daily driving again. Other than falling prey of some ridiculously deep potholes in the past, and driving it hard in the twisty mountains in the last three years for two weeks every year, I haven't done anything else harsh on it. I don't do burnouts, I don't accelerate it WOT from a stop, etc. How could this have happened? No wonder it would make a clanking noise when steering. At least it's not the tranny like I thought it was at first. rolleyes.gif

you're missing the snap clip on that axle...you need to find it! hopefully its just at the bottom of the trans pan.

All I found was a little round spring. Anyway, I am buying new axles since that one is out already. Might as well...kindasad.gif

yea, thats the part. its C shaped and fits loosely on the ring thats cut into the end of the axle.

Yep. It's on the axle now. I found it inside the "hole" in the tranny, heh. Why did it snap out of place? It's not like I abuse the car. I actually treat it with great care and never get crazy...plus it only has a little over 40,000 miles.

i have no clue. reinstall the axle with the clip and then pull on the inner axle hard with your hands, once its snapped in place it shouldnt come out without alot of prying and effort. also inspect your diff to make sure nothing was damaged.
