I searched a bit on mr2oc and a little bit on here but could not find any conclusive results as to what to use to clean your AFM.

It started when I took off the air filter to blow it out, and noticed some carbon build-up (black almost oily film) in the AFM and IC piping. I tried wiping out the AFM with a rag, but it didnt do much good. Has anyone ever cleaned theirs out, or is it not worth it? Im under the impression that de-natured alcohol is the best thing to use, and that it is also used to clean circut boards (wont damage the electrical part, if I fully submerge the AFM). Can anyone confirm this and if this IS the best to use, where can I find it. Should I look in a liquor store or a drug store?

What about the IC piping/IC, what should I use to clean that out?

the inside of the afm is sealed away from any of the circuit boards inside of it.

so i should be able to competely submerge the afm in a sink of carb cleaner and let it sit overnight without having to worry about damaging the electrical/sensor parts?

no... just spray some inside and clean it out.

what about the IC piping? same thing?

take a rag and some carb cleaner.
spray some inside and wipe it clean with the rag.
same thing with the IC piping.

but i wouldn't totally dunk the whole afm into any kind of liquid. doing that would probably damage it.

Ahhh AFM!? haha, i FINALLY got a new one today haha. Yes carb cleaner works great, but you dont need to over do it. Man.... i have a hatred toward AFMs now haha.

I guess we're people who don't quite sleep 4:51AM so yes, Pyrol fluid starter works wonders too the one with the cleaning agent.

Try carb cleaner, a rag, and a tooth brush.
