Topic #44573 36 posts Started by KB-2
okay, so i recently jsut got a new systemin my celi, and all i need now are new door speakers!

so i was wondering what companys you guys would suggest for sound quality and jsut all in all good speakers...i ahve PLENTY OF BASS so i dont need speakers with lots of thump. jsut need something that will amke it all sound nice and pretty

so good companys and size reccomendations......ive heard like 4 diffrent sizes that i can fit in each speaker location, so i dont really know waht size i should use...thoughts on that would be appreciated also.

thanks!

(i was looking at http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14757 those...and they seem good to me....)

I'm rocking Bostons Acoustic S60s in my doors. Some damn good speakers right there. Crystal and Rainbow are supposedly damn good too, but i don't have much experience or info on'em.

the Bostons are 6.5" and they fit with a bracket. you can fit 8" woofers in the door as well, so it's totally up to you.

CDT's
if you have an amp to run them off of
MBquart Qseries rolleyes.gif those are the perfection....

Celica ST202
I second the CDT motion

One o'dem crazy Canadian freaks, eh?
I have pioneer 3 ways and they sound really good, even after a few years of playing really loud all the time:) They are pretty cheap too, compared to a lot of other speakers.
Best speakers for Sound Quality is definetly Focal (K2P165). But dont know if you want to pay that much for a composet. I paid about €400-430 for them 2 years ago, never was I dissapointed about them! But I dont think they are sold in the US (French company)

JDM Powerplant installed, BPU coming very soon!
i second the pioneer idea, i have a set of 6 1/2 3-ways and a set of 6*9 3-ways and i love the sound, even for the price. i think you can get a set for about 40 bucks some places!

you think if i get the pioneers...that i would need a amp for them?

KB
pioneer, MBquarts, and eclipse is all i trust,...oh yeah and jl audio. i had a complete eclipse set up in my car. i had the eclipse 3 way components in my front doors and they sounded awesome.

okay...so heres waht im thinking as of this moment

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14797
that amp will power the 4 speakers

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14553
and those speakers.......now what im wondering is.....whats the key diffrence between:
Pioneer
&
Pioneer Premier

like whats the diffrence between the premier speakers ^
and these http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/Pr...ProductID=14530

besides the fact that the reg one or hte blue ones im getting 4 of them for $60 as opposed to $200

so what you think the major diffrence is....or is there really a quality diffrence..or is it just myth?

KB
get the 4-way pioneer, cause with the 2-way you will get more bass, which you dont need

and you really dont need an amp, unless you want one lol but your headunit should be more than enough power for the speakers
well with the premier ones, id buy 4 of them....i just want them to sound good, bass is not a issue at all...due to "King Kong" in da Trunk haha or any other term you wanna use lol

well ive heard that the amp will make them sound wayy better....obviously.

do the pioneer ones sound good thou?

.....

and what is the diffrence between "2-way" "3-way" "4-way" ??

never heard pioneers before... if you get another hifonics amp for which ever speakers you get, be sure not to turn the gain up too high... it seems like a lot of power for some door speakers... my door speakers dont have an amp and they are plenty loud and keep up with my alpines...

2-way- have a small sub and midrange
3-way- small sub, midrange, and tweeter
4-way-havent checked into them much, but it will probley have 2 tweeters instead of one.

i have 3-way's in mine and there are perfect for me, and i listen to all kind of music, but i have two kicker L7 12's in mine so the bass is all the way down on the speakers. It get pretty loud w/o an amp, so with an amp it will be amazing!
ohhh alrihgt...that makes sense....i think a 3 way sounds good.....since i already ahve tweeters in the car...dont think i need any more.

KB
so umm im thinkin alpine type R' or S' speakers.......or does anyone have any thoughts on alpine....or i hear infinity speakers are very clear...

KB
suggest a amp if i get the infinity's?

KB
Go for component sets(separate tweeter and mids) if you can afford it. coaxial speaker are really not worth the time imo unless you just want to replace a broken speaker etc. Not much of a change compared to stock and more often than not, sounds pretty crap. Have a listen though at an audio shop.... I would not bother putting an amp if you run coaxials. run it off the headunit.
Im getting 8" midbass subs KICKERS put into my doors.. I pick them up thursday
Good luck. for door rod rattle which will happen. chuck some rubber bands on there perpendicular to movement.
so 8' subs will sound liek crap in the front doors???
anybody confirm this?

and would 6X9 speakers fit in the rear spots?

Bump!

I just went with Rockford Fosgate Fanatics 6.5"coaxial door and rear speakers running off of my 4x50 watt Clarion Receiver, and they sound great. No distortion when turning up the volume to my liking biggrin.gif I use to run the speakers with one of my 400watt Profile 4-channel amp and using a Clarion Passive EQ to tune the stereo sound to the way I wanted and it sounds even better! My brother-in-law runs Boston Acoustic Coaxials with the same sound setup as my car and it also sounds great! Personally, sorry guys, I had a bad experience with the Pioneer Speakers which was this design:

I didn't like the sound quality I had when compared to Rockford Setup. So my recommended speaker brand to you would be Rockford Fosgate, Boston Acoustics, MBQuarts, and Infinity.

This is the Rockford Speakers I got. This and the one size smaller for the doors:

what Kickers are you going with. I run a three way with diamond hex components in kicks and RMB 8 in the doors and i must say i really dont like the sound of the 8.i have since switch to SSMB 6, and i like those better. my next set up consists of Diamond D9 three way. For the money Run an MB quart Discus 6.5. dont thin you can beat them for the money.

speakers are designed to work in certain enclosures. Most subwoofers are designed to work in enclosures. They need the resisting force of the air within the enclosure so that the cone moves properly and also to prevent the sub from bottoming out. Your door is a leaky enclosure at best. Find a speaker that work well in IB(infinite baffle) situations. Look for a speaker with a QTS of higher than 0.5 generally.

size of a speaker really does not make a speaker suck. There are even 12" midrange(pro audio etc). It is all about finding the right speaker. I have 7s in my doors and they play well to 45-50hz. For those really interested in audio as a hobby. Visit diymobileaudio forums and learn more. For the rest, just ignore my post smile.gif. Audio can be done on the cheap too, often much cheaper than off the shelf items you are buying.
Just my own 2 cents..... but.... What kind of head unit are u running these speakers off of?

Even the best speakers will not sound too great on a cheap head unit, but... a real good head unit will make even stock speakers sound great..

In my other car I had a cheap sony X-plod head unit and got a good deal on ebay for one of these.... and it sounded like a completely new system....

Just something to think about....

i got a alpine headunit.....dont know the model number but it was liek $280
