Hi guys, well the Ps3 has been out for a couple of months now in the US, just wondering what you guys thought of it.

It's still not out here in the UK for a while (mid march) but i have one arriving tomorrow with a friend who's been in Hong Kong

I know there are only a handful of games worth getting at the moment, but from what i've seen, the potential there is incredible.

it's a incredible console but i would wait for more games to come out and for prices to drop.. just too much for it now. and ya can pretty much buy it anywhere now.

that article sums it up pretty nicely. sony screwed the launch up so bad, raised the price on the console so high, that nobody wants to develop games for it because they realize they won't make their money back.

so, even in 6 months from now all those exclusive titles won't be so exclusive any more. my advice would be to get an xbox 360, all the good games are going to find their way on to it one way or another.

I have one, well worth it.

not enough good games out for it, and the pice is too steep.

Not to mension it is actually cheaper than the xbox for what u get

were 70$ over and we still havent talked about the larger hdd the ps3 has

Unreal and RE5 will both be on the 360. Also, you don't HAVE to buy all that crap you mentioned for the 360.. You DO have to buy the 60gig PS3 with the Blu-ray and wifi, etc. The 360 gives you the option of being a high-definition DVD player, or not. Also, you don't have to get the wifi adapter. Just plug it up with a Cat5 cable.

To make a "comperable system", sure, you'd need all that. But that's the beauty of add-ons. If you don't need it, you don't have to buy it. Sony is forcing you to buy all that technology, whether or not you really want/need it.

I didn't need any of that, so what did I do? I spent 399, got the 20gig premium Xbox 360, bundled with a game in the box.

So, I came out with a 399$ system(with a game) that does just as good, if not better right now, than a PS3, for 200+ dollars less. What exactly does it do just as good, if not better, for that price? Play video games. Which is what it is. A console. My controller even vibrates!

The PS3 is not worth the hype, and money, and all that. Otherwise, they wouldn't be losing exclusive titles. And have already cut production of the 20gig system.

It'll be a while before the PS3 is worth what they want for it. HD-DVD sales are still outnumbering Blu-ray, even though Sony is craming it down consumers' throats.

Also, MGS being 2 Blu-ray disks? There is no way they would dump that much development and money into a project that large. Do you even realize how much time and money that would cost? I mean, realistically...

Sure, the PS3 is nice, but it's just got too much crap going against it right now to be worth anywhere near what they want for it. It could be a great system, had its launch not been one of the biggest, if not THE biggest disappointment in the industry last year.

i got my ps3 for free because a guy at works son didn't want it so he gave it to me which is f$&^%&^*^ing sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. i love that thing but it's heavy and big lol and my cat always steps on it and turns it off

i would wait a year or more to see what games end up coming out for it, and see if the price drops. right now, there is just not enough content to make me want to be an early adopter.

I wanted the PS3 to be a success, because it would push microsoft/nintendo to produce higher quality games.. more competition is always a good thing in the industry.

However, due to the price point, the lackluster online service, the lack of games/exclusives, it just isn't that great of a system. Everyone here will either love or hate the PS3, but i'm certainly not going to spend over $500 on a glorified blu-ray player. Look at the sales figures :

PS3 - 1.4 million units sold. Plenty available in stores.
Xbox360 - 10.3 million units sold. Plenty available in stores.
Wii - 4.3 million units sold. None available in stores.

If you developed games for a living, which would you rather create for? Game development is a risky business, and it's all about quantity. It has nothing to do with peoples hate for Sony at this point, it's about business & logistics. Unless Sony sells 3-4 million more consoles this year, they're in deep ****. Selling 4 million consoles after your launch isn't the easiest thing to do, either.

Meh, give it time, the xbox 360 has had over a year, and the ps3 has only had 2-3 months.
When game buying season comes back around we will see.
I belive that xbox is about to get a nice pricedrop though.
Not to mension the fact that japan has little intrest in the 360, and ps3 games are region free.

I bought one at launch and its , there are no spectacular games out for it now. I probably should of waited another year or so. Could of used that money on my celica.
