Umm, I might sound noobish, but what is that bar that goes across the engine from *guessing* strut tower to strut tower? The one that goes back to the firewall in the middle? I'm just curious. Also, can I safely paint just about any metal in my engine as long as it's not the inside of something? And should I just use high temp paint or something else?

That is the strut tower bar and it stiffens the front suspension. If you don't like it I will take it. And about painting stuff pretty much everything is ok just don't paint where some things bolt up because some things need a good ground.
