Mines fits fine but when I put the bonnet stand/rest thing down it wont click into place and because of that the bonnet wont shut because the rest seems to be in the road. Can you point me in the right direction??

I have a VIS Racing Carbon fibre vented bonnet. Dont think that would make a difference though.

Any ideas???

hey, if CF hood, might have some problem... might need to remove the prop and place it at trunk...

One of my friend here with a CF hood also encounter this problem.

If stock hood, slam it serveral times... the prop sit in with no problem

Did your friend manage to resolve the issue due to the CF hood??

Hate to burst everyone's bubble this late in the game, but I hadn't seen this thread before.

This is a STRICTLY cosmetic part. See for yourselves:

There is a rubber seal on the underside of the hood. That seals the hood to the header panel. No air leakage there. So the part of the "cooling plate" that's in front of the header panel (around the latch) does absolutely nothing.

Any air that wants to avoid going through the radiator would have to go through the condenser first, then turn a sharp 90 degree up and escape through the small gap between the condenser and radiator. Then it would hit the underside of the hood and have to turn another 90 degrees through that small clearance. This is possible, depending on the local air pressures within the engine bay, but the airflow through that path AT BEST is very small. Air streams do not like turning 90 degrees repeatedly smile.gif

If your car is running so hot that you need that tiny extra bit of cooling, you've got bigger problems. And as to the claim that it runs x degrees cooler, absolute BS. Your engine water temp is regulated by the thermostat. The radiator only needs to cool enough to keep the thermostat at the operating point. Any excess cooling capacity makes no difference.

http://www.carbing.co.jp/english/products/...ator/index.html

Radiator cooling plate is a device to direct air to flow efficiently from grille to the radiator for better cooling that is installed between front grille and the radiator top.
Air escapes from the top of radiator instead of going through radiator on most stock vehicles. Radiator cooling plate restricts escaping air by connecting top of the grille to the radiator.
This result more air to flow through radiator for more efficient cooling that prevent overheating. This Radiator cooling plate also works as good under the hood dress up item.

Cooling Plate prevents air to escape over the top of the radiator, while reducing coolant temperature during track runs and high speed driving.

Vincent, nothing personal and I wish you the best of luck selling lots of goodies here.

BUT, let's not BS those who don't understand how stuff works.

I repeat, THIS IS A STRICTLY COSMETIC PART.

No amount of advertising hype will change the airflow IN A 6th GEN CELICA. If you wish to challenge what I said previously, please do it with facts, pictures, diagrams, anything you want. But NOT advertising hype from those who make these parts, unless they can provide proof.

The physics of the situation are pretty elementary and self-evident as I described.
For those still wanting cooling panels.. if none are available anymore from Vincent, check my topic on mirror polished cooling panels. Available from the UK via ebay. Only 40GBP + shipping.

If vincent can still do these then I can vouch for the quality smile.gif

You sir are wrong. My coolant temp has dropped because of this cooling panel.

If you are not buying don't bash on his work.

Vincent has done more for this community than you in so many ways.

input is always welcome on this site, but keep a line of respect to people, I would say that this is not a good way to introduce yourself here, you joined on Sept and already getting on the wrong side of people ?

a lot of people here will agree with you, for street driven cars this will be a cosmetic item, but who told you people don't want they engine bays to look better ? and yes there are benefits on having a cooling plate, the Celica 5th gen had one, the celica 4th gen had one, made out of plastic, companies like C-one Japan, varis, Cusco, and other reputable brands sell cooling plates for different cars as well, are you willing to argue with them also ?

Anything you can do to improve airflow through the radiator core will help. Anything that blocks or slows airflow, either before or after the radiator, will hurt.
