doe anyone know how much gas mileage they get out of their gt4s or 3sgte swapped celicas
mpg of a 3sgte celica - 6G Celicas Forums
it all depends on how you drive mate...
if you drive like a nana you should get 550 k or so out of a fulltank, if you hoon everywhere making boost all the time... maybe 300 ks...

I'm getting about 20 mpg.
50% city, 50% highway.
and about 25 mpg on 100% highway cruising at 65-70 mph.

Average of 370miles to a tank with city driving and about 430miles to a tank with 100% highway driving.

I got 21-22 mpg with the stock gt trans. city and highway. I hope it to be better with the mr2 trans.

you must not be running a lot of boost.

Well I'm pretty much stock and once in a while mostly when joining highway traffic I run maybe 8psi. But I have seen it at 11psi but thats rare for me.
Initially when I got the swap done, I was getting really awful mpg(300 to a tank). And after my numerous clutch breakdowns x2 (spec), I had Dr. Tweak put back my 5sfe flywheel on the swap and mpg has drastically improved.
The 430miles to a tank was what I was consistently getting while driving between maryland and chicago to minnesota at the posted speed limits. Right now my needle is a tad above the center on the gauge, and I have 205 miles city driving after filling up two weeks ago
. I don't drive much here in a small town in MN, everything is within 1.5 to 3 miles radius to me.

you realize that 10-11psi is stock boost, right?

thats not awful. its totally normal MPG. actually its really good for a 3s.
i understand trying to save some money, but why do a swap if your going to turn the boost all the way down and drive around in "5sfe mode"?

Sorry I don't wanna hijack this thread but to clarify..:
About 80% of the time I drive with my daughter in the back seat
.
Yea I know running stock boost is "low'" for some swappers. But right now this is my daily driver and reliability is important to me. When I get my dream job and a new daily driver all that will certainly change.
Is stock boost really a "5sfe mode"?
Oh I did the swap a bit earlier than I was actually going to because my old 5sfe was "drinking" oil like a quart/2wks so..

oh ok... i can understand that.

what i was trying to say, is that your at LESS the stock boost. 7-8psi is considered low boost/safety mode on the 3s. around 10-11psi is considered normal stock boost. the ecu puts the car into low boost mode, if it detects a problem (knock, CEL codes, etcc), or if your tvsv hose is disconnected.
stock boost =10-11psi
low boost mode= 7-8psi.

From a topped off tank I took a highway trip averaging 85mph down to philly.. 65 miles.. up and down lots of hills. 4 dyno pulls and then the trip back.. same as the trip down. Then I did mostly high way driving in my town.. I got 250 miles before I put gas in it again.. with about 3G left in the tank.
I did a decent amount of boost action on the high way.. 14psi.. and I put down 287whp.. Maxing out the stock fuel system.
I get rather good gas mileage both city/highway
