I am probably a couple days away from buying a small setup, 26 gallon glass bow. Still working on the equipment but are there any freshwater peoples out there? If so whats your setup like & what equipment are you using?

Alright so here's what I'm lining up for my setup. I will probably buy it by the weekend.

All-Glass 26 gallon bow front tank in black
AquaClear 70g Filter (might take it down to a 50)
Marineland Stealth Visi-Therm Heater
Marineland Siphon Kleen gravel vacuum

Then with the decor. I'll probably put a rocky background w/black gravel & some plastic plants. I'd like some driftwood but that takes a long time to prepare.

I will have pics once this is setup. Probably wont have much if any fish for a couple weeks while its cycling.

- 1 green puffer

i got a 30 long @ home with an emp 280 and a whisper 30 (whisper is crap but its just extra cause my emp can handle the whole tank), a visitherm deluxe heater and a rhombeus (solitary piranha)

here @ my apartment we got a 55gal with some marineland heater and 5 red belly piranhas (used to be 10)

My little fishbowl is sized 32" by 14", and is 16" high. Don't know the gallons, I'm used to the metric system.
It has your average filtering system, and a heater with a thermostat.

It's half filled, and a third of the surface is rock above waterlevel. Any higher and my 7" red eared sliders (that are the turtles with red cheeks) would escape wink.gif

I've got 2 turtles in that enclosure, one male and one female. No, they don't reproduce in such a confined space. The female did lay an egg last weekend, which is something that doesn't usually happen with turtles kept as pets.

hehe betafish biggrin.gif are awesome. Strong fish but its hard work someitmes
My tank's stats are something like this..

150Gal tank
Custom sea-barrel stand
housing 8 red-bellied Pirhanas
2 live cultured wood pieces
4 live aqua plants

Every 3 weeks it houses an additional 75-100 Goldfish.. for about 5 minutes. Then its back to 8 Pirhanas... and a lot of scales floating in the water.

My g/fs turtle layed about 6 eggs, but they were all unfertilized.

meh. Law doesn't prohibit having them, just prohibits buying them. Guess thats just another loophole in the system! tongue.gif

pretty sure it DOES prohibit having them. i dont really know about the temperature in washington but usually you cant have them in states where they could possibly thrive in warm rivers or lakes. (not that i care what you do, i like piranhas too and have them, MD temps wouldnt let them live so i can get them easily.)

washington gets cold so its weird that its illegal there, but it is...i just checked.

Well the government can cry me a river I guess.

Actually I just called over to the department of fish and wildlife and they said you can have them so long as you have had them since they were babies- or smaller than a thumbnail.

did you? lol

doesnt matter man. just informing you. btw if you only feed them feeder goldfish, rosy reds, etc, they have a growth-inhibiting hormone called thiaminase and they are prone to disease and internal parasites
I got a 75 gallon with 5 pirahna. My biggest one is probably 6-8 inches or so...and I have raised them since they were less than an inch big. They are pretty damn cool...in fact...I think I am going to feed them today lol.....also...I got a 45 long with a ball python....named GoGo after that crazy B*%$* from Kill Bill., I love my pets...if you have any ?'s about tanks or filters or anything, just ask....I have been into fish for quite some time now
And anyone interested in reptiles, especially lizards or geckos can ask me anything. That's my forte.

I have a 44G hex tank with a Asian Red Tail cat that is about 10" long and 2 pleco's, couple of oversized goldfish(would have been food), and a Freshwater Eel that is about 12-14" long and is about as big as your thumb. I also have had set up a 10G tank as a breeding tank for various fish. My wife has her 10g with mollies, pleco, tetras and such. I need to get a bigger tank because the cat and eel are starting to outgrow this one. Good luck with the fish they are a lot of fun but if you get the wrong combo there will be problems. Also the only problem with having a bigger than tank volume filter is the amount of water that is flowing, other than that I say bigger the better. I currently have a Marineland Hot Magnum 250 on the 44G tank.
I also want to add that undergravel filtration is very bad. I would only use it on a one gallon bowl or smaller. Too much stuff can collect there and ruin the bio system.

That looks like a good setup. My mom has the same 26gal bow face aquarium. She's also got a 75 gal and a 10 gal.

My roommate and I just setup a 20gal a month ago.
Erik it looks nice!
idk where you put that in your room, and which rock didn't you like? I think they look fine.

Here is my "freshwater aquarium"
